Locomotion and behaviour in group of pig-tail macaques (macaca nemestrina) at Prague Zoo
Vlčková, Marcela ; Vančata, Václav (advisor) ; Vančatová, Marina (referee)
This essay describes and analyzes of locomotion, sexual, afiliativní and agonistic behavior in a group of pigs macaque (macaca macaques) at Prague Zoo. Data collection took place in the period from December 2015 to May 2016. In the winter months (December to March) at the times from 9.00 to 16.00 hrs., And in April and May 2016 in time from 9.00 to 18.00 pm. The total observation period reached 240 hours. Data were analyzed using Statistics 12th and MS Excel 2007. Objectives of the work are three: (1) Based on the research literature to describe the behavioral ecology of macaque monkeys. (2) The detailed description and analysis of locomotion, sexual, afiliativní and agonistic behavior in a group of macaque pigs in the Prague Zoo. (3) Describe grooming, depending on time of day and social position in the group of pigs macaque in the Prague Zoo. We tested five hypotheses, which can be divided into four categories. We first investigated the hierarchy of the group. Furthermore, we investigated the behavior depending on the sex of the individual, and consequently the position in the hierarchy. In the last part we dealt with in detail during grooming. Tests confirmed the existence of a clear linear hierarchy based on agonistic interactions. The results showed that move around the enclosure depends on...
Selekční kritéria k upevnění varroatolerance včely medonosné
Rod, Jan
Main purpose of this thesis is to summarize knowledge in the field of suppressing the varroosis and to compare contemporary methods and chemicals. Then to describe behavioural patterns of varroatolerant bees, their mutual relations and their importance for selection of varroatolerant honey-bee colonies. In the thesis is described relation between varroosis and the viruses of honey bee and a possible consequences of this relation for the honey bee population. Theoretical knowledge is supported by the experiments with the new methods of application of oxalic acid. The object of these experiments was to determine the efficiency of oxalic acid in control of the growth of the Varroa mite and it’s effect on the brood. Then the varroasensitive hygiene of honey bee colonies was tested. The results show that methods for selecting varroatolerant honey bee colonies is still not finished for praxis, therefore, collapses have to be prevented by application of varroacids.

Dignostika varroózy a možnosti selekce včely medonosné na varroatoleranci
Lukášek, Dominik
This work deals with the varroose of honey bees, its Diagnostics, control and the possibility of the formation of the natural resistance of the beehives. Here is described the evolution of mite and its weak spots in the reproduction. Then there are described the various methods of estimation of contamination by the presence of Varroa, including their benefits and pitfalls. Another part of the work is devoted to each of the factors responsible for the natural resistance of the hives to varroose. This is primarily about the active removal of contested the fetus. VSH behavior and active elimination of mites from their own bodies and hive environment known as grooming. Important is also the birthing colony mode and the ratio of worker bees and drone of the fetus. In the work are briefly characterized by chemical control measures, with an emphasis on organic acids. In the practical part of evaluating the fallout, washes off and sanitary tests carried out at University honey bee Apiary. The subsequent discussion deals with the utility of the individual methods Varroatolerance and estimate the adequacy of their use in practice.
Grooming in female Barbary macaques: Role of dominance, kinship and relationship quality.
ROUBOVÁ, Veronika
This study investigates the influence of dominance, kinship and relationship quality on grooming distribution in female Barbary macaques. Data were collected in free-ranging group of Barbary macaques during two four-month periods. The results demonstrate that all tested factors are important for females choice of grooming partners in given group. Moreover, the relative importance of each variable was evaluated. This approach enables to establish which factor plays the most important role in grooming distribution among female Barbary macaques. The relationship quality had the strongest effect on distribution of grooming interactions among females. In other words females groomed more often and for longer time social partners with whom they have better relationship.
