Báňa, Josef ; Smékal, Zdeněk (referee) ; Atassi, Hicham (advisor)
This thesis deals with analysis of speech signal in dependence on the gender and the age of the speaker. We tried to investigate through the features to find the best set for the automatic classification of speakers. It also contains a brief discussion about the speech signal and its characteristics. We used a program called Praat for the speech analysis purpose. This program is also described in this work. We mainly focused on the suprasegmental features of speech. Our first step was to make our own speech corpus which should contain speech records from speakers with various age and gender. We made the analysis using Praat and reported it within this thesis. For the automatic classification purpose, twelve features were selected basing on there quality criteria and used with a neural network to classify the speakers to classes with different age and gender. As it was mentioned, a neural network was used as a classifier. We used “Neural Network Toolbox” in the Matlab program to create and train our networks.

attributes of corporeality
Lukešová, Eva ; Bartlová, Milena (referee) ; Gabriel, Michal (advisor)
My thesis titled Attributes of corporeality is a continuation of my thinking on the topic of identity. Now I approach identity as a category, not as an identity that belongs to a particular person. I consider the question of how is identity shaped in a postmodern, globalized world and how is it related to corporeality. My answer is based on the reality I know, on the current state of society. However, the intention of my work is above all to express my idea, which is rather a utopian scenario than anything else.

Karmazínová, Hana ; Dvořáčková, Jana (advisor) ; Pavlík, Petr (referee)
EN The aim of this thesis is to explore the institutional context and barriers to individual and collective efforts to address the phenomenon of stalking (in Czech "dangerous prosecution") through Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Drawing on feminist perspective, this qualitative study explores the shared social context in which the unique experiences are set, the approach of the security forces and the reactions of those around the victims. The outcome of this work is the identification and overview of systematic gaps that allow the phenomenon of stalking (and possibly other forms of gender-based violence as well) to persist in our society in its current form and extent. These gaps are an obstacle to cases being reprorted and properly addressed within the existing legislative system.
When the general nurse is a man...
Tomášková, Vanda ; Růžička, Michal (advisor) ; Bosá, Monika (referee)
In the upcoming years, the healthcare and social system in the Czech Republic is expected to encounter a significant surge in the deficit of general nurses due to the anticipated retirements. One of the strategies that could help mitigate the impacts of the expected shortage of healthcare professionals in this area of expertise is to attract more men to pursue careers in nursing. This thesis examines the subject of integration of men into teams predominantly composed of women in intensive care units. The aim of the thesis is to determine how alterations in the gender composition of initially exclusively female teams impact the processes related to group dynamics. Interim objectives included finding a suitable strategy to facilitate men's entry into teams predominantly composed of women, as well as identifying the abilities and skills through which men could improve the current provision of nursing care. With information obtained in this manner, we should be able to implement appropriate measures that support not just the recruitment but also the retention of new employees. The key challenge in this area will be to guarantee transparency and equal conditions for both women and men who will choose to work in this area of expertise. Keywords: gender, gender stereotypes, group dynamics, human...

The thesis draws on previous research and analyses of attitudes towards gender roles. It combines secondary analysis of data from the ISSP international research project with analysis of qualitative interviews. The research objectives include describing the attitudes of Czech society towards gender roles, verifying the existing findings in a new context and examining the influence of the current gender structure on attitudes towards gender roles and the harmonisation of work and family responsibilities. Several key findings regarding gender roles in Czech society emerged from the analysis. Data from the ISSP secondary analysis shows that attitudes towards gender roles are not static and undergo changes over time. Some trends in the view of gender roles in the family and at work have been identified that indicate a shift away from traditional models. Qualitative analysis of the interviews provides deeper insights into the individual attitudes and experiences of respondents. It shows that despite societal progress, there are...
