Socio-geographical regionalization of Benesov district in 2001-2011 and the impact of work attractiveness of Prague on its changes

Commuting became an inseparable part of everyday life of contemporary society and an analysis of commuting flows has a fundamental meaning for capturing social- geographical organization of society. The main object of this thesis is to identify changes in geographical aspects of commuting to work and school in the Benešov district during the period 2001-2011. The second object is to evaluate the impact of macroregional centre of Prague on the commuting in Benešov district. The district is, taking into consideration the nearness and a good traffic connesction to Prague, appropriate example for assessing the impact of macroregional centre on neighbouring micro-regions. This impact is followed by an analysis of commuting flows and also by a questionnare survey. The purpose of the questionnare survey is to capture how people feel about commuting to work and labour market in Prague. Inner Structure of Functionala Region: Theoretical Aspects

The contribution addresses theoretically the inner structure of functional region. It defines types of functional regions on the basis of selected criteria regarding their inner structure. As classification criteria a number of cores in a region, their hierarchical importance and ch aracter of interaction relationships between them and within a region have been employed. A study of functional regions is not important only for geography, but also for regional and spatial science and for planning practise.

The paper deals with the topical issues connected with the public administration reform in the Czech Republic. On the one side the attention is paid to the problems of creation of the administrative regions of municipalities with extended competence and on the other side to the issue of size of municipalities in the Czech Republic. Possible further topics of research are outlined in conclusion; the possible positive influence of e-government in improved efficiency of the public administration is pointed out here.
