Frequency measurement

The topic of my dissertation is to verify the autocorrelation method for determining changes in frequency and other design software tools for measuring frequency. In my work I use outside the above-mentioned autocorrelation methods, Zero-crossing. The output is compared with the commercially designed software used and evaluate the results in terms of measurement uncertainties.

This thesis deals with designing a frequency measurement module using a programmable logic device. There is also a list of data acquisition cards of several manufacturers. The selected method of direct period measuring is described here including the circuit design of the module. The work also contains a description of FPGA’s firmware and its commands. The PC programme and the measurement results are presented in the end.

The aim is to create a system for the determination of aircraft operating parameters with a main focus on motion detection and evaluation . The thesis describes speed sensing methods , acceleration measurement , frequency measurement methods , wireless communication , serial line communication , hardware and software implementation of the embedded system, and finally description of the implementation of the mobile application .

This progress report gives a summary of the results obtained in time and frequency calibrations at the Laboratory of the National Time and Frequency Standard at the Institute of Photonics and Electronics within the Project III/13/07 of the Program of Metrology Development in the first half of 2007. The results concern a) calibration of GPS disciplined time and frequency standards, b) background instability of the measurement system based on dual-mixer time-difference multiplication, c) data processing of the GPS time transfer using all-in-view satellites.
