Case report of a patient after comminuted fracture of os calcaneus

Autor: Richard Kania Title: Case report of a patient after comminuted fracture of os calcaneus Summary: The bachelor thesis consists of two parts, general and special. General part contains theoretical description of the diagnosis. It describes anatomy, kinesiology, theoretical knowledge of fractures and their treatment. It also includes surgery procedure description and usage of therapeutic methods in given diagnosis. In special part there is casuistry of patient after comminuted fracture of os calcaneus. There will be kinesiology analysis, short and long term rehabilitation plan, an outline of the therapy, outgoing examination and evaluation of the effect of therapy. I made this case report during my rehabilitation practice on the Rehabilitation Clinic of Malvazinky in Prague. Assessment of Nursing care differences' at Patients with Lower Extremity Fracture at Accident and Emergency (A&E) Department at The Ceske Budejovice Hospital, Inc. and The AOVV - Presidio di Sondrio

This Bachelor's thesis, composed by theoretical form with application of own personal experience from Department of Trauma Surgery at Ceske Budejovice Hospital, Inc. and Orthopaedic and Traumatology at The Hospital Sondrio, characterizes methods of specific therapy procedures in organization and systems of provided nursing care, its differences at patients with skeletal traction, external fixator, ostheosynthesis and with immobilization dressing, included physiotherapy. It also specify nurses responsibilities starts by the admission of injured patient at A&E department, perioperative care and finally ends by patient's discharge or transfer. It contents also the elements of nursing care documentation created by theoretical models used in specific nursing care of hospitals mentioned above. The main aim of this thesis was comparison of nursing care differences at patients with lower leg injury at A&E departments at the Ceske Budejovice Hospital, Inc. and the AOVV - Presidio di Sondrio. It has been found based on the available specialized literature and own personal experience, that the most essential differences are in nursing care documentation, wound care at patients with external fixator, providing of hygiene and patient's education. Department of Trauma Surgery at the Ceske Budejovice Hospital, Inc. has plenty of nursing care forms which nurses are overload with and their content do not quite correspond with specifically provided care at mentioned department. Nurses are not updated with knowledge of new therapy procedures concerning to wound care with external fixator. Quality hygiene care at Orthopaedic and Traumatology at the Hospital Sondrio is provided by authorized Healthcare Assistants which allow to nurse time relief to perform specialized activities and devote more time to patient by communication. Complex education of patient and their relatives has been also provided at the same department. Final results could be used to improve the quality of nursing care at the hospitals. For this purpose were suggested the Realisation of Nursing scheme for Department of Trauma Surgery at the Ceske Budejovice Hospital, Inc. based on model by Marisi Cantarelli and Nursing Report of patient's transport for Department of Orthopaedic and Traumatology at the Hospital Sondrio. Gained knowledge from this thesis could be used at meetings and nursing trainings from stated departments to enable find more up to date information regarding wound care technic at patients with external fixator.
