Assessment of damage in game hunting LCR sp "Vápenice"
JOZA, Jaroslav
The objective of this graduation thesis was to find out the extent of damages caused by wildlife to the forest stands up to 30.6.2009 and agricultural stands during 2009 in the hunting district LČR s.p. (Forests of the Czech Republic) "Vápenice". The damages to forest stands have a large impact on the function and recovery of the forest, while the damages to agricultural stands have negative effects on farmstead. Hence the first part of this thesis is concerning with methods of protection of both the forest, and farm crops to prevent it from being damaged. In this graduation thesis, percentage outcomes of damage of forest and agricultural stands, which were caused by wildlife, are stated. The damage to forest stands in all age groups in the hunting district "Vápenice" reach approximately one half in comparison to damage rate of the whole Czech Republic. The damage to permanent grass stands is higher than the damage to cereals.
Long-term impact of forestry management on soil mesofauna (Oribatida, Collembola) biodiversity in spruce forests in the Šumava National Park
Farská, Jitka ; Jínová, Kristýna
The aim of our research is to compare Oribatid and Collembolan communities in climax spruce forest and spruce plantations. Soil samples were collected in five study sites in the Šumava National Park (5 in climax spruce forest and 5 in spruce plantation) and soil microarthropods were extracted. Oribatida and Collembola were determined to species level. Preliminary results show quantitative and qualitative changes in the community structure. Some euedaphic species do not occur in the samples from spruce plantations in comparison to the climax forests. Silvicultural practices are well known to affect microarthropod communities that are very sensitive to fluctuations in soil humidity and temperature.
Přitažlivost listového opadu pro pancířníky – experiment s opadovými sáčky
Farská, Jitka
Oribatid mites in litterbags and in soil samples were studied during one year. The litterbags with oak or beech litter were exposed in beech and spruce forest on the Kleť Mt. (Blanský les Protected Landscape Area, Czech Republic). Four habitat-litter combinations were investigated - oak litter in beech forest, oak litter in spruce forest, beech litter in beech forest and beech litter in spruce forest. Soil samples were taken from oak, beech and spruce forests. Species diversity of oribatid mites increased with litter decomposition in the litterbags. Communities of oribatid mites in the litterbags exposed in spruce forest had higher species richness (59 species) than those exposed in beech forest (33 species). Species composition was dependent on the forest type where the litterbags were exposed. The influence of the litter type on the oribatid community was lower. Communities in the litterbags and in the soil samples were compared.
Stručné porovnání dvou strategií vážení pro Random Forests

This paper is concerned with a theoretical comparison of two different modifications of Random Forests method based on weighing of leaves.
Vegetation and geobiocoenological classification of silver fir forests of the Czech Republic – preliminary results
Boublík, Karel
Preliminary results of vegetation classification of silver fir (Abies alba) forests are given. Seven communities from three alliances were distinguished in the Czech Republic. Climax stage of vegetation on the habitats of each association was investigated by geobiocoenological methods. It is claimed, that fir forests are seminatural that originated by stronger human impact (incl. fir forests on pseudogleys). They depend on forest grazing, litter raking, and other forest management. Fagus sylvatica is supposed to be dominant or frequent tree under natural conditions.
Povrchová aktivita osmi běžných druhů chvostoskoků ve smrkových lesích a na pasekách po kůrovcové kalamitě v Národním parku Šumava, Česká republika
Brůhová, Jindřiška ; Rusek, Josef
Surface activity of eight common epigeic species of Collembola were studied in spruce forests, dead spruce forests and clearings in the Šumava National Park, South Bohemia, Czech Republic: .i.Lepidocyrtus lignorum, Leidocyrus cyaneus, Pogonognathellus longicornis, Tomocerus minutus, Tetracanthella stachi, Allacma fusca, Entomobrya nivalis, Dicyrtomina minuta./i.. Five pitfall traps were exposed at each of the 9 sites in the summer and autumn periods to study the impact of spruce forest die-off after bark beetle attack (dead forests) and on clearings. Material comprising 79435 specimens was evaluated in this study using the non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis test for comparing Collembola activity between the sites and seasons. Complete linkage (Euclidean distances) cluster analysis was used for comparing the collembolan activity in all nine sites.
Žížaly v ekotonu pole - les
Pižl, Václav ; Zeithaml, J.
The effects of a forest-field ecotone on the density, biomass and species composition of earthworm communities were assessed. Five sites (blocks) differing in type of crop rotation used in the field were studied near Kostelec nad Černými Lesy, Czech Republic. At each block, soil samples were taken in seven parallel rows perpendicular to a transect from the oak forest to the centre of the field. Individual rows were located: in the forest (5 m from the edge), on the foresf edge, and in the field in distances of 5,10, 25, 50, 100 m from the edge of the forest. Six samples were taken in each row in spring 2001. Digging and hand sorting of soil samples, followed by formalin application was used to extract earthworms. Nine species and subspecies of earthworms were identified, among which .i.Aporrectodea caliginosa./i. predominated. Per block, the species number varied from 5 to 7.
