Knowledge of first aid among primary and secondary school teachers in the Liberec and Ústí Region

Title: Knowledge of first aid among primary and secondary school teachers in the Liberec and Ústí Region. Objectives: The main aim of this study is to determine the level of knowledge in the field of first aid among primary and secondary school teachers in Liberec and Ústí nad Labem regions. The sub-tasks of the work are to find out whether and in what form the respondents are most often trained, and which injuries or accidents are most common in primary and secondary schools. Methods: A questionnaire survey was used to collect data, with a total of 30 questions. The non-standardized questionnaire was inspired by the 2022 Tyler questionnaire. The questionnaire survey was distributed via email. The sample consisted of teachers from primary and secondary schools irrespective of the subject taught. A total of 378 teachers participated, of which 302 were female and 76 were male. There were 213 teachers from the Liberec region and 165 from the Ústí region. 247 teachers teaching in primary schools and 131 from secondary schools sent in their responses. The data were converted into Microsoft Excel and processed using the graphical method. Title: Level of first aid knowledge of ice hockey players Objectives: The main aim of this study was to determine the level of first aid knowledge of ice hockey players. The sub-objective is to determine whether education affects first aid knowledge. The second sub-objective is to determine whether graduates of first aid courses achieve better results than individuals who have never taken a course in their life. Methods: Quantitative data collection through a survey was used to meet the objectives. The questionnaire survey was conducted by internet distribution using Google forms. The target group were active ice hockey players. A total of 42 participants took part in the survey. The first half of the survey dealt with general information about respondents while the second half focused on general first aid knowledge and dealing with the most common injuries in ice hockey. The data was processed and subsequently evaluated. Objectives: Based on the survey, it was found that ice hockey players did not demonstrate sufficient knowledge of first aid. Respondents answered with an average success rate of 69 %. It was also found that the results were influenced based on previous participation in a first aid course.
