Corporate philanthropy in small and medium-sized enterprises

The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the current situation of corporate philanthropy in small and medium-sized enterprises in the Czech Republic. Theoretical background of the bachelor thesis is done by using relevant literature. The evaluation of the current situation is accomplished by creation of PESTEL analysis, quantitative and qualitative research and EFE matrix. Based on the results, several recommendations will be suggested in terms of corporate philanthropy.

Hladíková, T. Current approach of big companies in the Czech Republic to corporate philanthropy. Bachelor thesis. Brno: MUAF, 2015 The topic of this thesis is corporate philanthropy -- the support provided to selected subjects by corporations. The initial, theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to the corporate philanthropy itself, to the related corporate donations, their instruments and organisational measures. The second, practical part focuses on qualitative research, using a questionnaire embracing 35 questions, responded by 11 corporations. Various approaches of selected companies to corporate philanthropy were analysed and discussed, and their interconnections revealed.
Donor programmes

This master's thesis deals with possible ways of communication between cultural organisations and donors. It focuses mainly on donor fundraising - systematized, transparent and clearly formulated donor programmes. The main part describes the gift and it's possible forms along with the possibilities of donor management including the inner organisation of work (staffing, use of databases, involvement of Board members) and particular steps of the donor cycle (identification, qualification, cultivation). A detailed analysis of the benefit programmes and various benefits is then followed by the description of donor stewardship and creating of special events. The last part of the thesis deals with corporate donors and the use of the CSR strategies for attracting them. It also seeks the connection between corporate and individual giving. Throughout the whole thesis, the theoretical findings are complemented by practical examples (both from the Czech Republic and abroad). The aim of the thesis is to describe the situation in cultural giving in the Czech Republic and create a range of options for arts managers to use when creating donor programmes for their organisations.
Business voluntariness in Czech Republic - Activities of Czech Donors Forum

Conceptions of corporate philantrophy and corporate social responsibility brought to the Czech Republic by multinational concerns influence strategies of companies of various sizes and industries more and more. The activities of Czech Donors Forum and other relevant organisations take an important share in these concepts as they seek to their popularisation. The main task of this bachelor thesis is to find out, how do these organisations motivate companies to cooperate with non-profit organisations on welfare projects. The first part of the thesis defines philantrophy, corporate philantrophy and corporate social responsibility in theoretical way. The second part analyses actual czech legislation which regulates the activities of nonprofit organisations and funding of their projects. The last part focuses on missions and activities of selected czech organisations: Czech Donors Forum, The VIA Foundation and Business for the Society.
Corporate Social Responsibility

This diploma thesis deals with the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). In the theoretical part of the work are defined key concepts which are for explanation of Corporate Social Responsibility very important and with which makes up an integral part. In the theoretical part are therefore more described concepts such as CSR, stakeholders, corporate philanthropy or CSR filter. It also includes the definitions of the necessary standards, principles and entities to which CSR concern, and plays a significant role within it. In the practical part was the main aim the analysis of social corporate behavior and it?s outcomes in the economic, social and environmental sector in the company Tesco Stores ČR a.s., which author chose as the key for this work. A partial aim of the practical part of the work was the draft measures to the improvement of CSR in the company based on gained knowledge.
Analysis of corporate philanthropy as a strategic tool of corporate social responsibility in the Czech Republic and France

The subject of this thesis is to point out the growing importance of the corporate social responsibility and the sustainable business concept of firms in the Czech Republic and abroad, integrating corporate philanthropy into their long-term strategy. The basic terms and close connection of the corporate donation policy and social responsibility are explained. Corporate foundations present the strategic tool. First chapter is an introduction to philanthropy with the definition of basic terms. Second chapter deals in detail with importance of social responsibility in the Czech Republic and France, focusing on the role of corporate foundations, their activities and comparing the situation in both countries. Practical chapter analyzes the activities of selected corporate foundations in order to capture examples of good and bad practice. Subsequently, the observation is summarized and future developments are outlined. Last chapter provides practical advice and considerations for companies considering establishing their own foundation. Implementing and improving proposals of the efficiency and quality of their management are finally submitted.
Corporate social responsibility

The main goal of this Diploma thesis is to find out, on the basis of research, how the companies from Czech and Slovak Republic perceive and apply in praxis the concept of corporate social responsibility. The work consists of theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is included in the first three chapters. The first chapter defines the term CSR and illustrates the historical development of social responsibility. The second chapter presents various theories and approaches in the area of CSR, describes the main as well as alternative concepts of CSR, advantages and disadvantages for the firm which decides to behave socially responsibly. It also mentions the approach of the European Union and the debate if the concept of CSR should still remain voluntary. The third chapter is focused on CSR in the company's praxis. It describes the pillars of CSR, explains the terms like corporate ethics or corporate philanthropy as well as the instruments for measurement and evaluation of corporate social responsibility. The practical part is contained in the last fourth chapter. It follows the done research among the companies from Czech and Slovak republic which main aim is to find out if there exist some differences in approach to CSR among the companies on the basis of their owner's structure, size or branch of enterprise. Consequently, the conclusions about the posture and an approach of Czech and Slovak companies are done from the results of research. It also emphasizes the areas where the companies do very well and areas where exists a space for an improvement.
Does It Pay Off to Be Socially Responsible Corporation?

This paper examines the hypothesis of profit motivated corporate philanthropy. More general phenomenon of corporate social responsibility and corporate philanthropy as its part are described. Potential scenario of positive impact of corporate philanthropy on corporate financial performance is presented. In the analytical part of this paper, the impact of corporate contributions on profitability is measured. I use data for 89 Czech corporations. Dataset is based on the Top Firemní Filnatrop ranking list made by Czech Donors Forum. Lag of corporate philanthropy variable is used to solve causality problem. Although the outputs of differently specified models vary, the results of econometric analysis indicate no significant impact of corporate philanthropy on corporate profitability. Some flaws and limitations of my analysis are also discussed.

Theoretical part of the thesis defines corporate philanthropy, its instruments and describes it as a part of CSR. Practical part of the thesis shows sophisticated strategy of corporate philanthropy on example of 3 companies - T-Mobile Czech Republic, a.s., Johnson&Johnson, s.r.o. and Československá obchodní banka a.s. It also provides study of public attitude towards this issue.
Corporate Social Responsibility in Czech and Foreign Companies

In the theoretical part of this thesis, the theory and development of corporate social responsibility are being described. There is a closer focus on three pillars of corporate social responsibility and on stakeholders who deal with this topic. Arguments for and against the implementation of corporate social responsibility are given, as well as methods of its measurement. In the next part, there is an analysis of current situation of this topic in the European Union and in the Czech Republic. More details about particular steps for implementation of corporate social responsibility and its effective communication are provided. In the practical part, there is an evaluation of activities in this field on example of real companies: Johnson & Johnson, a big international company, and Tylex Letovice, a.s., a middle-size Czech company.
