SVOBODOVÁ, Lucie

Primarily, it deals with the question of identity of the chosen heroes and its interpretation in the context of the Gothic tradition. The crucial themes of this work are the feelings of uncertainty and fear of the unknown, the search for the personal identity and the meaning of existence. This thesis also focuses on the psychological characteristics of the heroes and the meaning of the background they come from. There is also a brief summary of the authors and the works that influenced J. K. Rowling's writing. The theoretical essay about the Gothic novel and fairy-tales can be found there as well.
