Thermal insulation and backfilling as a way to save metal and anergy in foundry
Kos, Jan ; Sekanina, Bohumil (referee) ; Kavička, František (advisor)
Types were summarized, principles and thermo-physical properties of thermal insulation and backfilling and their use in the foundry industry to provide directionally solidified castings and then their quality. It summarized the need for numerical simulation of thermal field system casting-form (core)-around the control and prediction of directional solidification. They are some commercial software using different models of solidification. As an example, using one of the models describe the procedure as a pre calculation to decide which of two possible isolation of the riser will be more effective.

Influence of exothermic sleaves on solidification of aluminium alloys
Zajíček, Roman ; Krutiš, Vladimír (referee) ; Roučka, Jaromír (advisor)
The master’s thesis deals with the influence of the exothermic risers on the solidification of aluminum alloys. The work is divided into three parts. The first theoretical part describes the differences of properties of cast aluminum alloys compared to other based metals, especially iron alloys. It also describes the methodology of designing risers, composition of exothermic mixtures and finally gives an overview on the simulation programs on the market, their application in foundry practice and briefly explains how to define the material in the simulation program ProCAST. The second part describes the experimental measurement of the solidification time of aluminum alloy AlSi7Mg0,3 in the sand form with exothermic riser. The final section describes the simulation of experimental measurements. Further with help of simulation software it is tried to find the general principles that have an influence on feed module rate of exothermic riser.
Individualized feeding of premature babies in practice
Kotíková, Aneta ; Hronek, Miloslav (advisor) ; Kudláčková, Zděnka (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the individualized feeding of preterm infants. The aim of this work was to evaluate the benefits of orofacial stimulation and to compare the values with a group of premature newborns who were fed standardly, without any intervention. The measurement took place in three periods of the child's life. When being discharged from the maternity hospital, in the 1st and 2nd years of life. Evaluation parameters included length of hospitalization, diet at discharge, at 12 and 24 months, and anthropometric parameters such as BMI, weight-height ratio, head circumference, and body length. Orofacial stimulation always took place before each breastfeeding during hospitalization. In the monitored period, statistically significant changes were recorded in the days of hospitalization, diet at discharge, and at 12 and 24 months in preterm infants. Breastfeeding difficulties were significantly reduced after orofacial stimulation. However, the study did not show significant differences in orofacial stimulation on anthropometric parameters. It follows that orofacial stimulation does not affect the growth of the newborn, it only supports and improves the quality of breastfeeding. In summary, it can be said that the orofacial stimulation method is an effective form of breastfeeding support...
Hodnocení welfare v chovu dojnic
Sovadinová, Simona
Animal welfare enhancement requires specific problems being reliably identified and corrective actions being defined afterwards. This diploma thesis evaluates the level of animal welfare on Czech farms with dairy and dual purpose cattle. The thesis uses the European project Welfare Quality®, which is a tool for a comprehensive assessment of livestock living conditions. WQ® gives the farms one of four final marks – excellent, enhanced, acceptable, and not classified. Most farms in this research were marked as acceptable. The organic farm received the best rating of all farms. Barns were most deprived of animal feeding, while animal housings were rated well. This research considers welfare as a multidimensional complex and also assesses specific aspects of dairy farming.
Analysis of growth characteristics and carcass composition of selected hybrid combinations of pigs
KOMOSNÝ, Michal
Two hybrid combinations with an almost equal ratio of barrows and gilts (Large White Landrace) (Large White-sire line Pietrain) - experiment 1 and (Large White Landrace) Pietrain - experiment 2 were included to the monitoring (70 head). The rearing of piglets was going on in the experiment 1 from 25 to 60 days of age and in the experiment 2 from 28 to 63 days of age. Higher live weight and average daily gain were achieved in barrows of both hybrid combinations. A lower consumption of feed per 1 kg of gain was found in barrows. Feed consumption per 1 kg of gain was statistically significantly influenced by gender in the experiment 1. In the experiment 1, fattening was going on from 60 days of age and was evaluated up to 130 days of age. The first group was fed with an ad libitum diet (AD), the second group was fed with a moderate restricted diet (MR) and the third group was fed with a strong restricted diet (SD). AD barrows and gilts achieved the highest live weight and average daily gain. The lowest feed consumption per 1 kg of gain and the highest lean meat content were recorded in barrows and gilts of SR. In almost all traits, with the exception of lean meat content, greater differences between groups of feeding methods were recorded in barrows. Live weight and average daily gain were significantly influenced by the feeding methods. Feed consumption per 1 kg gain was significantly influenced by gender. Experiment 2 was going on from 63 days of age and is evaluated up to 133 days of age. The first group was fed with an ad libitum diet (AD), the second group was fed with a restricted diet from 85 kg live weight (R2) and the third group was fed with a restricted diet from 65 kg live weight (R3). Also in the experiment 2, the highest live weight and average daily gain were in AD barrows and gilts and the lowest in R65 groups. The differences between ad libitum or by restricted-fed pigs were not as significant as in the experiment 1. The lowest feed consumption per 1 kg of gain was in barrows R65 and gilts R85. Lean meat content was the highest in AD barrows and R65 gilts. Live weight and average daily gain were significantly influenced by the feeding method and gender. Feed consumption per 1 kg of gain was significantly influenced by the feeding method. The slaughter value traits were converted to an age of 148.9 days in the experiment 1. The highest slaughter weight was in AD barrows and gilts. The lowest average backfat thickness and with a related highest lean meat content (FOM) were in SR barrows and gilts. The highest pH45 was in barrows of both restricted groups and MR gilts. The lowest drip loss was in SR barrows and MR gilts. The highest IMF content was recorded in AD barrows and gilts. Backfat thickness and lean meat content (FOM) were significantly influenced by the feeding method. Lean meat content (FOM) in the AD group and MLLT area in the SR group were significantly influenced by gender. The slaughter value traits were converted to an age of 141.3 days in the experiment 2. The highest slaughter weight was in barrows and AD gilts. The lowest backfat thickness was in R85 barrows and R65 gilts. The highest lean meat content (FOM) was in the R85 groups for both sexes. The highest pH45 was in barrows AD and gilts R85. The lowest drip loss and the highest content of IMF was in barrows and gilts R65. The results of the experiment 1 for the hybrid combination (LW L) (LWSL Pn) showed that it is suitable to use ad libitum feeding for both gilts and barrows, depending on the technological and organizational possibilities of the breeder, to apply a stronger feeding restriction. In terms of costs per 1 kg of gain, it was shown in the experiment 2 for the hybrid ombination (LW L) Pn as the most suitable feed restriction from 85 kg of live weight, when the growth potential of pigs was best utilized with adequate feed conversion. Results of the trials showed excellent growth potential
Porovnávací studie bezobilných komplexních krmných směsí (KKS) pro morčata
POSTLOVÁ, Štěpánka
The purpose of this bachelor thesis was to compare commercially sold grain-free complex compound feeds (CCF) for guinea pigs. In particular, a comparison of the production technology, nutrient content and prices of the offered feeds. A total of 10 grain-free CFCs were compared and the results were discussed with literature. In particular, the production method of the feeds and the content of the main nutrients needed for the guinea pig were monitored. In addition, the feeds were compared based on their average price per kilogram. The ranking of the most suitable feeds was inducted from on the values, which were summarized in the cre-ated tables and graphs.
Feeding the patients in hospital
NITA, Tatiana
The main goal of the bachelor thesis was to find out what interventions the nurses used in feeding, what communication techniques the nurses used and how they cooperated with other members of the nursing team in feeding patients in hospital facilities. Three research questions were identified, which focused on the nurse's interventions in the feeding, on communication techniques during the administration of food and on the cooperation of nurses with other members of the nursing team. The empirical part of the bachelor thesis was processed through a qualitative research survey. The data collection itself was carried out through participatory unstructured observation of nurses working in a hospital facility. Each observation was converted into written form and further processed by the method of open coding, the "pencil - paper" technique. The results of the empirical part were divided into nine categories for clarity. Among positive findings we include that the rooms had been cleaned and ventilated before the food was served. Before lunch, the nurses allowed non-self-sufficient patients to take a suitable position. The nurses also prepared bedside tables for patients at a sufficient distance and provided non-self-sufficient patients with a paper bib to prevent contamination of their clothing and bedding. No dietary changes were observed. The diet was served at a sufficient temperature and amount. During the diet, the nurses actively offered patients liquids with the help of various compensatory aids for drinking. Among the positive findings was that the nurses fed the patients in clean work uniforms, had no accessories on their hands, were properly combed, and all but one had the prescribed manicure. Furthermore, the nurses actively cooperated and communicated with both patients and nursing staff. Only minor problems were detected, but this did not have a major impact on the provision of quality nursing care to patients. Among the negative findings we can include non-compliance with the principles of barrier care for nurses. The nurses did not exchange incontinence devices for non-self-sufficient patients, they did not allow them to perform hand and oral hygiene. It was also revealed that the nurses did not wash or disinfect their hands before or after eating. This bachelor's thesis is intended for nurses and students of non-medical health disciplines and will serve as a basis for revealing problems and improving skills in the field of feeding patients. The thesis can serve as a basis for further research.
