Family therapy
MEDVECKÝ, Jan Mikuláš
This thesis describes the family therapy and related issues. It explains the origin and development of the family therapy worldwide and in the Czech Republic. It defines the family therapy and introduces some of the fundamental concepts in this area. It shows the family therapy as a way of thinking, which has developed over the years and provided us with numerous models and approaches that are applied up to now. The systemic approach in the family therapy is one of the principal approaches. Therefore, a substantial part hereof is dedicated to this approach. Also, there is one chapter dedicated to the narrative approach. The thesis refers to the impulses penetrating the European psychotherapeutic society ? such as the jin-jang family therapy. It describes the steps in the systemic conduct of a therapeutic dialogue ? starting with receiving a client into the therapy to completing it. It also mentions the importance of observing the professional ethics. It is not the purpose hereof to intimidate readers with the complicated theory of the family therapy. The purpose of this thesis is to clarify this topic and motivate readers to take up further studies.
