Mateřské chování plemenic skotu po odstavu telat
KACETLOVÁ, Tereza
This thesis is concerned with displays of postweaning maternal behaviour of chosen Charolais cows held in non-milking system. The analysis of the cows was done on the farm located in Vysočina region. The herd consisted of 16 cows, 10 of them were observed after weaning. Ethological observation ran for 3 days, first day for 24 hours, second and third day during the time of daylight. Basal behaviour cathegories were registered use of the interval method and the length of interval was 10 minutes. The vocalization was registered permanently. The results of the observation of four basal behavior cathegories were analyzed comparatively.
Etologie ovcí s ohledem na klimatické podmínky
ČEDÍKOVÁ, Kristýna
This bachelor thesis focuses on the ethology of two selected breed of sheep - Grey Horned Heath and Charolais sheep. The main method of this research was ethological observation. The observation took place during 2018 and 2019 on a farm in the village Chlístov. The key observed behaviour of sheep was defined as feeding, standing, lying/resting and moving. Observations were organized during different season of the year (spring, summer, autumn and winter) to demonstrate the effect of the climatic conditions on sheep behaviour. Both herds of sheep were observed at the same time to eliminate and avoid the influence of other various aspects which could influence behaviour, thus the same time observation provided fully comparable data. Results of ethological observation are evaluated by comparative method.
Vliv technologie chovu na životní projevy skotu
Bartošová, Petra
This Bachelor's thesis is named "The Impact of Rearing Technology on the Cattle Behaviour" and it aims to compare occurrence and frequency of basic daily activities of dairy cows in family farms and factory farms. Ethological observations of behaviour in factory farms was carried out in the Agricultural Society TERRIS Ltd. located in the village of Budětsko. There are Holstein breed dairy cows treated in open stabling with deep litter beds and elevated cattle feeders. The family farm Amalthea Ltd. is the second object of this thesis, this farm is located in the village of Hvozd. In this farm, Jersey breed dairy cows are reared, kept on pasturage all year long. Daily activities such as standing, lying on the right side, lying on the left side, walking, drinking, feeding, urinating, defecation, social behavior and comforting behavior were moni-tored. The observations were done every five minutes on 26th and 27th of August in the factory farm and on 16th and 17th of September in the family farm. According to the observations, the cows reared in the family farm spent 46.14 % of a day eating, that means 15.19% more time than those reared in the factory farm, and they spent 11.73% of the time walking, e.g. 6.73% more than factory reared ones. The diary cows in the factory farms had social interactions during the observations while those in the pasture did not. The stabled cows spent lying 25.96% of the time, 4.56% more than pastured ones. Family farm cows preferred lying on their right side while factory farm cows enjoyed both lying on the right and on the left sides.

Hrbáčová, Zdeňka
The aim of the thesis titled Evaluation of expressions of life and welfare of dairy cows on the farm operated in organic farming was to evaluate the effect of stable on the occurrence and frequency of basic daily activities dairy cows. The evaluation was carried out on an organic farm in the district Pelhřimov in the Czech Republic, where was bred cattle with dairy production, namely Czech fleckvieh, Holstein along with hybrids of these breeds and crossbreeds of Czech fleckvieh and Ayrshire. Ethological observations conducted at fifteen-minute intervals. In this observation activities were monitored as resting, feeding, watering, defecation, urination, comfort behavior, play, speech rut and observing the surroundings. There has been observed that most of the time they spend on pasture cows grazing on average 55 % of the time. The observation results were evaluated statistically significant difference between feedings in the stable and pasture. In the stable, this activity devoted an average of 10,8 +- 3,78 cows in the pasture while the number of dairy cows is higher, 22,16 +- 10,85 animals. Conversely, in the stable with the cows most devoted rest, which was involved in about 45 % of the total time per day. In the stable difference was observed between the morning and afternoon rest. The morning was devoted to this activity 14,17 +- 3,85 animals, while the rest of the afternoon was observed at 15,5 +- 3,48 cows.
Analýza chovu žirafy Rothschildovy (Giraffa camelopardalis rothschildi) v Zoo Ostrava
Sikorová roz. Valečková, Eliška
In 2014, a breeding group of giraffes was observed in Ostravian zoo. The aim of the observation was to monitor and evaluate individual activities of the animals during the day. The observation took place in both winter and summer season. Elements of behavior had been recorded for four days in each season and compared thereafter. The conclusion of the monitoring is that the most frequent element of behavior was food and water intake, followed by standing, walking and other motion, and often licking of other objects ocurred. Less frequent was excretion and the least frequent sexual behavior. Notes on morphology, bionomy, worldwide distribution, and quantities of giraffes in zoos are summarized and personal evaluation of breeding in Ostrava zoo is mentioned.
