The degree of empathy in officials and health professionals in the Liberec region interviewed by a standardized questionnaire.
BÜRGEROVÁ, Marie
The thesis deals with the degree of empathy in officials and health professionals in the Liberec region. The objective of the thesis was to determine how much empathy officials/social workers and health workers have. The thesis is divided into two key sections. There is a theoretical section that described and explained, using the processing and presentation of professional books and Internet resources, empathetic and ethical empathy in these groups. Health workers and social workers proceed according to a prescribed code of ethics and their own moral standard in exercising their profession. In their professions, both the groups mostly try selflessly to help their patients/clients. The character of both the examined groups requires ethical responsibility to others, especially to people who find themselves in emergency situations and who need various types of aid and assistance. Another section, a practical one, presents a quantitative research using a standardized questionnaire that found out the degree of empathy; in it, the respondents expressed their positions on twenty statements.
Suffering, dying and death in prehospital care
MAJSTR, Jiří
This thesis is topically focused on suffering, dying and death of a patient (patients) in fore hospital urgent care. It deals with above mentioned phenomena from the paramedic point of view. It refers to the impact of these events on paramedics, their perception of patients at sudden worsening of chronic disease, acute worsening of health state, immediate life threatening or death. The aim of the thesis is to map and interpret the attitude of addressed paramedics to given facts, which they normally encounter in their practice, and the evaluation of reflexive projection of above mentioned experiences into ethical attitude to the patients. The thesis is based on qualitative research. It uses the methods of controlled interview with ten chosen paramedics who have different period of professional practice. The dialogues are transcribed in the chapter called Results of Research. In the thesis the answers to particular questions are compared and the results of the research are the hypotheses which can be evaluated by means of quantitative research in the future.
