The tick-borne encefalitis is an inflammatory virus illness which is transmitted to humans by infected ticks of germs Ixodes ricinus. These ticks have the virus in the saliva. RNA virus of the Flaviviridae section is the etiological agent. The virus belongs to the arboxiruses. The vaccination is the best preventive protection against this illness. This bachelor work is dedicated to the problems of tick-borne encefalitis in the Pilsen region. Two groups of patients, in the years 2011 and 2016, have been used to compare the results. The information about patients with tick-borne encefalitis in the year 2011 were taken from the laboratory information systém Open Lims in the virology sector of Institute of Microbiology of the University Hospital in Pilsen. I diagnosed the patients with confirmed tick-borne encefalitis by the method of Enzyme immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in the year 2016 and the antibodies were detected. ELISA is the routine diagnostic method which detects the tick-borne encefalitis antibodies in particular classes. Both groups of patients were evaluated according to the same criteria. The trend of occurence of tick-borne encefalitis has been surveyed with focusing on months, age cathegory and sex of the patients in the years 2011 and 2016. The detected data have been compared. The results of identified data show that this illness has the direct link to seasonal occurrence. The patients are mostly older adult people and there are more male patients than female. The results of both groups with serologicaly proven tick-borne encefalitis agree with the results in the EPIDAT systém in the years 2011 and 2016.
