	Contemporary problems and research opportunities of the environmental geomorphology in the Czech Republic Kirchner, Karel This paper is focused on the position of the environmental geomorphology and the current state of knowledge in the Czech Republic. The basic outline of research approaches and opportunities to extend its research concept are presented. Environmental geomorphology is the practical use of geomorphology for the solution of problems where humans wish to transform or to use and change surface processes. A special issue of environmental geomorphology is the protection of non-living nature or geoconservation. This activity involves the inventory and evaluation of geologic and geomorphologic localities that are worth of protection. These “geosites” or “geomorphosites” are parts of the landscape that acquired some special values thanks to the human perception. Contribution deals with a selected problems of environmental geomorphology (definition, position within the framework of geomorphology) and geomorphologic inventory. Geomorphologic inventory and subsequent evaluation as geomorphologic localities (or larger territories) – so-called concept geomorphosites is one of possibilities of evaluation of geomorphologic resources.
