The first chapter describes the basic points for conduction of the comparison. Energy needs and the realization of the energy policies of the EU and USA are discussed in the second chapter. The third part of the thesis describes different energy resources in both regions. The last chapter is devoted to energy strategies of the EU and USA, that will be realized in the future.
Selected Aspects of the European Union's Energy Policy
Hylmarová, Šárka ; Němcová, Ingeborg (advisor) ; Horák, Jiří (referee)
The thesis is concerned with the stability of the energy market with oil and gas in the European Union. It first characterizes the development of energy policy. The next part specifies two essential types of primary energy -- petroleum and natural gas. This chapter deals with the measurement, mining and also describes the proved world reserves that influence the delivery of these energies into the European Union. The following chapter deals with the stability of the internal market for oil and natural gas. It describes the stability of demand for this kind of energy, the stability of supply and the stability of prices. The final section outlines some of the ways, in which the European Union seeks to enhance the stability. One of the ways is maintaining and deepening relationships with external suppliers and other major energy consumers. Another way to encourage energy stability is to increase the efficiency of energy use, which leads among others to a reduction of the European dependence on supplies and it also lower resource depletion.
The Energy policy of the Russian Federation: Present State and Prospects
Kučera, Jakub ; Lupták, Milan (advisor) ; Lisa, Aleš (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the energy policy of the Russian Federation in the period from 2000 to 2008 and its prospects until 2030. First of all, I analyse particular targets of the energy policy of Russia and put them in a broader framework. Consequently, I focus my attention on three economic targets that need to be met if Russia is to become an "energetic superpower". Firstly, I search for the answer to the question whether Russia has enough oil and gas for foreigner markets and whether it can provide for their export in order to be able to act successfully as an "energetic superpower". Secondly, whether Russia will succeed when exporting oil and natural gas to world markets and whether it will manage to diversify transport routes for its exports. Thirdly, whether the effort to "make the economy move" supported by raw-material exports has been successful and whether this situation can continue. The thesis further follows each answer to these questions in two dimensions of time. A hindsight shall first clarify how successful the energy policy of Russia was when meeting these targets until 2008, or what problems Russia had to face while trying to meet them. In consequence, this provides a basis for a foresight.
Energy stability of the European union
Rothkögel, Václav ; Abrhám, Josef (advisor) ; Bič, Josef (referee)
This paper focuses on problems of energy sector in the European union. Primary goal is the analysis of the EU position from the perspective of the most significant indicators, consumption, reserves, production, trade, etc. and consequently defining the perspectives of energy policy developement, defining their targets and measures. The paper is divided into four main parts. The first part is dedicated to the teoretical and historical insight of the phenomenon of consumption growth, with a focus on the relationship of GDP and energy consumption. Second part is dedicated to analysis of energy consumption in the world and in the EU, in numbers and the energy-fuel balance developement. Third part evaluates EU position by various primary resources and evaluates the importance and narrow points of their use in the EU area Last, the fourth part defines priority areas of european energy policy and evaluates the importance of the measures used to achieve goals
The analysis of the development of electricity production which is made from renewable sources in the Czech Republic in comparison with the most advanced states of European Union.
Neradová, Veronika ; Zeman, Karel (advisor) ; Ryvolová, Ivana (referee)
This bachelor work shall see into the analysis of the development of electricity production which is made from renewable sources in the Czech Republic in comparison with the most advanced states of European Union. This is a very actual topic, the European Union supports higher using of renewable resources and every individual member state must comply with limits which are predetermined. On the other hand, increasing of some kinds of renewable resources threatens the stability of the transmission system. In the theoretical part there is the definition of the economic policy, how it was developed and which main approaches exist nowadays. There is also described the energy policy of European Union and specifications of energy recourses which are classified as renewable. The analytical part deals with energy policy of renewable sources in the Czech Republic. Then there is an analysis of development of electricity production in the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria and Sweden. The energy policy is definite for each state which is applied for promoting renewable sources. The aim of this work is analytical comparison of electricity production of renewable sources in the Czech Republic and the most advanced states of the European Union.
The Influence of the State Energy Policy on Electricity Market Structure in the Czech Republic
Harant, Alexandr ; Ryvolová, Ivana (advisor) ; Zemplinerová, Alena (referee)
The State Energy Policy, which belongs to the key topic of economic policy, basically aims to ensure long-term and stable energy supply; in the case of electricity creates conditions for self-reliant and strong market in context of the geopolitical position of the Czech Republic. There is an ongoing debate over the new version of approved concept which implements commitments arising from membership of the Czech Republic in the EU and consequently circulates State Energy Policy from 2004 on renewable sources and partly reviewing pririties of economic and political targets. The main objective of bachelor thesis will be an analysis of the impact of strategic decisions in th field of electricity energy, especially decision about ČEZ Group, a.s. which was determined as the strongest producer and saler of electricity in Czech Republic. This paper will try to compare visions of energy strategy of neighboring countries and evaluace the current status of dominant companies in czech energy market.

Approaches of energy policy implementations between the European Union and the United States
Willi, Tomáš ; Bič, Josef (advisor) ; Sudliankou, Aliaksandr (referee)
The aim of my bachelor thesis is to compare approaches of energy policy implementations between the European Union and the United States. The thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter deals with the energy balance of both centers, with focus on the most significant factors influencing the energy policy making: composition, availability and supply of energy sources. In second and third part the analysis of energy and environmental policies of the United States and the European Union is given. The main objective of these two chapters is to examine the energy-policy priorities, energy legislation, the division of powers between the centre and states, as well as energy-policy instruments. In the last chapter approaches to the implementation of energy policies of both centers are compared. Here the focus is put on four main areas arising from the previous three chapters: primary energy sources and energetic mix, the degree of centralization, instruments of energy policy and promotion of the renewable energy sources.

Energy policy of China in global perspectives
Fekete, Krisztína ; Hnát, Pavel (advisor) ; Zapletal, Petr (referee)
I decided to dedicate my bachelor thesis to China and its energy policy. Specifically, I chose the area of energy and mineral resources because in recent years China has experienced a huge economic boom. The usage and the growing demand for natural resources must have largely contributed to the growth of its economy. In the future these resources will certainly serve to consolidate the growing influence of China. The aim of this thesis is to highlight the importance of natural resources in the Chinese economy, to observe the trends on the future development of the Chinese market of raw materials. Moreover I will deal with investments in the region and prospects for the future.
