Matocha, Jakub ; Pauknerová, Monika (advisor) ; Brodec, Jan (referee)
Legal limits of the cross-border movement of military materials The global trade with military materials is an important, however often under- researched, area of academic enquiry. Such attitude is not correct, because in fact it is a massive global industry in which also Czech companies play a significant role. Given the newspaper headlines and statements of arms dealer, it is obvious there have long been unsolved problems burdening arms dealers caused especially by an inappropriate legal framework. This theses aims to provide an analysis of legal framework in respect to cross-border movement of military materials covering especially European and Czech legislation focusing on its potential limits arising and important for arms dealers. On a global international level the Arms Trade Treaty and other relevant treaties regulating international trade with military materials are identified and described. Attention is also paid to limitations of arms trade such as embargoes or restrictive measures imposed by the UN and the EU respectively as well as to limitations resulting from domestic and European legislation or from its different interpretation. Šplíchalová, Eva ; Trávníčková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Machoň, Miloslav (referee)
The United States imposed the longest lasting sanction regime on Cuba in 1960 as a result of strained relations in recent years. Each US administration modified form of the sanctions regime, depending on the attitude toward the Cuban issue. General Assembly, the highest authority of the UN, adopts not legally binding but politically significant resolutions. Resolution condemning US sanctions regime has been adopted annually since 1992. Discussion on changes of the sanction regime in the General Assembly is a sign of reflection on current events and unrigid process of resolutions adoption. The main purpose is to determine whether the changes of the sanction regime were mentioned in the discussions on the adoption of the resolutions. The result of the analysis shows the reflection of the events in the speeches of ambassadors. The amount of mentioned events in speeches depends whether they were positive or negative step toward easing the embargo, and also how important the event was.
The change of OPECs market power after the first oil shock
Celer, Martin ; Tajovský, Ladislav (advisor) ; Chalupecký, Petr (referee)
In 1973 the world was hit by first, intentional, oil shock. It was caused by relatively new organization OPEC which imposed trade embargo on some western countries supporting Israel during Jom Kipur war. This oil shock which had deep impact on global economics was in fact due to long lasting friction between recently founded OPEC and cartel of oil producing companies known as "Seven sisters". These companies and OPEC led mutual negotiations concerning purchasing oil prices. In this work I intend to analyze the changes of OPEC power following the first oil shock and to prove that this power has substantially increased. I will achieve this by analyzing relationships between both players on the oil market and literature sources concerning time period being in concern.

I decided to concern about economic embargo in my bachelor works, because it seams that in the question of embargo, it will go to changing. I put myself four following questions in introduction: How embargo impacted on economical development of Cuba? How embargo impacted on Cuban relationship between USA and SSSR? Can we see different impact in different times of Castro's regime? In epilogue I will try to answer on the question how will be embargo in the future? For understanding economical embargo is necessary know the historical facts about relation between USA and Cuba. That is the reason why I concern about history of Cuba in the introduction.
