Electric guitar innovation
Blaha, Marek ; Skvaril, Šimon (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the innovation of the electric guitar and its timbre when changing different components in the chain. The thesis describes what parts the guitar consists of and how its pickup works. It also deals with the manufacture of these components and their subsequent assembly. The focus is on pickups, bridges and bodies. Each time a component is changed, the spectrum is analyzed. In the end, the final prototype is assembled and compared to the original guitar.
Publication "Czech Masters of Rock Guitar" (analysis of selected compositions, medallions of authors)
HORÁKOVÁ, Petra
The bachelor thesis focuses on a publication entitled Czech Rock Guitar Masters. In the introductory part, I examine the domestic literature form the 90s. concerning rock guitar and point out the uniqueness of the publication in the context of the time. I then briefly introduce the lives of all the authors who contributed to the project and select three main ones to give more attention to. I present their personal lives and the most important milestones of their careers. In the last section I analyze one composition by each of the tree main authors and focus on harmonic aspects and guitar techniques. Finally, I explain the basic principles of guitar techniques found in the compositions and their proper use.
Analysis of Spectra of Electric Guitars Made of Various Materials
Zezulová, Eliška ; Musil, Jaroslav (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
Bachelor‘s thesis focuses on the spectral analysis of two electric guitars. The Cort X-6 electric guitar is used for harder genres of music. The second Fokus-H Strat guitar is more of a rock-universal type of instrument. The work deals with the spectrums of tones using various guitar pickups and analyzes them with the use of psychoacoustic measurements in the perception of timbre. It examines variations in the sound spectrum when there’s a manipulation with tone and gain controls. The measured values of the tone control are divided into thirds of the potentiometer range. The volume has been halved. The following is a look at the change of sound spectrum when using a harder plectrum. The end of the work is devoted to the difference in colors of two tones that were recorded under the same conditions. Their difference lies in the way of holding the neck of an electric guitar.
Experimental Electro-Mechanical Musical String Instrument
Svěrák, Jan ; Mojdl, Edgar (referee) ; Dlouhý, Dan (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is to design and construct a prototype of an experimental electromechanical musical instrument of unusual construction and a plethora of achievable timbres. The design is based on a combination of fundamental attributes of two already existing instruments, namely the hurdy-gurdy and the electric guitar. The first chapter of this thesis analyzes the theoretical background of said problematics. The second chapter describes the construction and function of individual components, including the reasoning behind the chosen principles and materials. The third chapter describes the changes from the original design and the process of building the instrument. The fourth chapter evaluates the instrument in terms of functionality and its properties. The fifth chapter proposes changes in design which could eliminate or mitigate the problems revealed by the prototype.
Design and construction of guitar multi-effects
Šindelář, Jindřich ; Kratochvíl, Tomáš (referee) ; Petržela, Jiří (advisor)
This thesis focuses on design of electronic circuit which combines several effects for electric guitar. These effects are switchable to achieve relatively wide range of sounds usable in different music genres. Each chapter of this text describes function and design process of single subcircuit. In the summary of this text are written up sound characters of effect in particular modes. Attachments contains the results of design needed to build a functional prototype of the whole circuit.
Electric Guitar to MIDI Conversion
Analog Guitar Multieffect
Zapletal, Ondřej ; Petržela, Jiří (referee) ; Staněk, Miroslav (advisor)
Presented thesis is focused on guitar effects used for sound modification produced by an electric guitar. The main aim of this thesis is an introduction into guitar effects topic and the design of selected types chosen as follows: overdrive, noise gate and delay. Final multieffect is created by these mentioned components. Another part of presented thesis is the design of source feeding the whole final multieffect. Furthermore, the design of chosen components is presented in this thesis as well as the including of control simulations and PCBs.
