Vojtuš, Michal ; Anděl, Petr (advisor) ; Smetana, Vít (referee)
Socioeconomic consequences of Japanese American internment in the United States during World War II Abstract This bachelor thesis describes the consequences of wartime internment of Japanese Americans in the USA. It is concerned with short- and long-term socioeconomic effects of the incarceration. The first part of the thesis introduces Japanese immigration to the United States and the struggle of the pacific states to reduce it. The next chapter informs the reader about the internment itself, including its causes, process and the reasons of its termination. The third part is concerned with the socioeconomic status of the community between the two world wars. The main focus of the chapter is to tell why Japanese Americans chose agriculture and small farming over other professional fields. The socioeconomic consequences of the internment are analyzed in the main chapter. The study reflects the short- and long-term effect of incarceration on Japanese Americans. The conclusion overviews the findings of the thesis and also provides a quick summary of the redress movement which achieved a formal apology and financial compensation to the survivors of the internment. The main focus of the work is to analyze the post-internment shift from agricultural occupations to other fields, to review the economic losses and...

Economical impact of invasion IAS
Tyrpekl, Lukáš ; Berchová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Hana, Hana (referee)
The invasion of plants and animals species are considered as one of the main danger for diversity of natural ecosystems worldwide. With destruction of habitats represent the main reason of the current global wave of taxa extinctions. The obviousness of biological invasions are financial costs in different branches connected with their prevention and liquidation. The main purpose of this master thesis was to evaluate the economic impacts of invasion of the selected invasive species, concretely Grand hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum), Himalayan balsam (Impatiens glandulifera), Giant goldenrod and Canadian (Solidago gigantea and canadensis) and also Japanese knotweed, Giant knotweed and Bohemian knotweed (Reynoutria japonica, sachalinensis and × bohemica). As an area of interest was Třeboňsko chosen, where the economic impact of these invasive species based on the results of field investigation was evaluated with in cooperation with an owners of the affected land. Also, ecosystem damage were registered and total financial damage was estimated.
The analysis of government measures in the road safety and economic impacts caused by traffic accidents in years 2009 - 2014 in Czech republic
Šurýn, Dominik ; Štípek, Vladimír (advisor) ; Lukášová, Tereza (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of the road safety since 2009 till 2014 in the Czech Republic and especially from the perspective of executed government measures and the economic damage caused by traffic accidents. The theoretical part is characterized by factors, institutions and strategies affecting road safety. Further it is analyzed the method of calculating economic losses from road accidents. The practical part contains the evaluation of the development of the road safety from the perspective of faults, types and consequences of accidents. Following the previous chapter the next part of the thesis identifies what government measures help to improve road safety and what measures on the contrary are ineffective. Afterwards, it is calculated production losses, social costs and total economic losses from road accidents in 2014, that helps to understand the meaning of the research questions. The benefit of the work is to evaluate the development of the road safety, government measures and economic impacts in this period and to detail the quantification of economic losses, which affect a large rate of the state budget.
Analysis of the current institutional adjusment of liability for economic damages caused by wild boar in the Czech Republic since 2000
Hekrle, Marek ; Louda, Jiří (advisor) ; Řežábek, Pavel (referee)
Growing populations of wild pigs are causing economic damage, societal risk and the risk of spreading infectious diseases. Czech Wildlife Management defines a wild boar as a renewable natural resource not owned by specific subject and sets hunter's liability for economic damage caused by it. For the purpose of the work was prepared questionnaires addressed to the farming agricultural subjects and representatives of hunter's association in the Czech republic. The author confirmed his hypothesis that the current institutional game management of wild boars leads only to a limited negotiation between hunters and farmers due to bad enforcement of economic damages. Thesis proves, that in most cases economic damagesare not enforced by farming subject. Hunters are in the position of free riders participating in the unwillingness and lack of incentives for farmers to enforce economic damages or to enforce non-equivalent to the amount of damages. It shows that the current institutional adjustment does not support the principle of personal liability and motivation, and does not optimize populations of wild boar and thereby reduce the economic damage.
Economic efficiency of invasive species eradication in Czech republic shown on example of Giant Hogweed
Linc, Ondřej ; Gráf, Václav (advisor) ; Petrášek, František (referee)
The aim of this work is to estimate the damage to environment caused by invasive plant Giant Hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum) in Czech Republic. Using the Replacement costs method I found that the damages reach about 2.5 millions CZK each year. That equals amount of money annualy spent on eradication of Giant Hogweed by government. Model of elimination of the plant in CR subsequently revealed that the costs of its total eradication equals about 170 millions CZK a year in a five year project. Such project would be uneconomical at present, but postponing the solution causes nearly exponential increase of its future costs.
