Psychological differences Czech and Roma school children and its implications for education

This work analyzes the differences between older Romany schoolchildren and their peers, who make the majority, as well as the resulting impact on their upbringing. It also explores Romany history and culture, and attempts to explain the value system of this ethnical minority; while avaluating its weaknesses and strong points. There is a limitation to work only with children at their mid-school age. It explores their experience of growing up as well as the way they are viewed by the society. This work also regards the Romany relationship to religious believes as well as their ways of spending free time. It also sheds some light on the hierarchical structure of Romany families and the differences of upbringing of the children, in comparison to the families of the ethnical majority. Finally, the work points out the importance to approach Romany children with regard to their background. This should help revealing the issues related to education of Romany children; hence problems which are of interest to specialists all around the world. Through familiarizing with the issues related to educating Romany children, through better understanding of the them; the project aims to help improve education of Romany children at their mid-school age.
