Reaction of President Franklin D. Roosevelt to Pearl Harbor attack and US entry into World War II

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyze events that led in 1941 to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii and the following decision of American president F. D. Roosevelt to declare war on the Japanese Empire and enter the fighting of World War II. In addition to the personality of one of the most important American presidents, the bachelor thesis deals with Roosevelt's activities at the turn of the 1930s and 1940s, as well as American foreign policy in the period. The source base consists of primarily the publication of documents of the American foreign policy Foreign Relations of the United States Diplomatic Papers, Roosevelt's speeches and numerous foreign literature, including the latest foreign-language studies.

Content of the bachelor´s thesis is the analysis of History text books in Federal Republic of Germany. The is me of World War II is analyzed in particular text books in relation to teaching the appropriate school of the country. Main objektive of the thesis is to deal with previously untreated is me which depending on RVP seems to be extra ordinarily current. The thesis analyses in which way the text books deal with the topic of the WW II and how the topic is described and where and how the text books deal with the WW II, how detailed the descriptionis, which approachs the presentation use setc. At the same time the paper focus on the differences in the concept and approach of the German text books mainly their theoretical and practical background.

The presented diploma thesis is conserned with the personality of Budweiser?s doctor Emil Flusser and tries to enter his intellectual world with the historical-anthropological method. Based on his two main writings analysis (Křičící kojenec, Válka jako nemoc) and preserved souces analysis (press of the period, the doctor?s own texts), German-speeking Jewish doctor Emil Flusser, is placed into both czech and german cultural society in Budweis. This diploma thesis is focused not only on his doctor?s work, war and protest against the war are main themes of this diploma thesis. Since Dr. Emil Flusser knew important people (Albert Einstein, Karl Kraus), based on contemporary press study I?ve tried to reconstruct their art of world understanding in period close to the second world war.
