The occurrence of selected risk behaviour of some pupils of the primary educational school system
KORTIŠOVÁ, Jana
The occurrence of selected risk behaviour of some pupils of the primary education school system Abstract of the Bachelor Thesis The task of my thesis is to map and analyse the occurrence of selected risk and addictive behaviour in the population of primary education pupils in primary schools in České Budějovice region. In the theoretical part of my thesis I explain the term risk behaviour and its aetiology. I also describe various types of risk behaviour, which I have divided into drug and non-drug addictions and I characterize the period of adolescence here. For attainment of outlined goals are by quantitative research in a form of an anonymous questionnaire gathered data at six primary schools in České Budějovice. On the basis of these data are investigated the experience of pupils with selected risk and addictive behaviour. Nominally it refers to experience of pupils with alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs, bullying, gambling and using computer and internet. Basing on my research I also verify three prospective hypotheses. Hypothesis No. 1: Pupils have the first experience with legal addictive drugs before the age of twelve. This hypothesis was verified. Hypothesis No. 2: Pupils have first experience with illegal addictive drugs before the age of fourteen. Also here was the hypothesis verified. Hypothesis No. 3 claims: Absolute majority of primary education pupils have in the course of school attendance come across bullying. This hypothesis was disproved. From my research results no more than 34 % interviewed pupils came across bullying. The results of my bachelor thesis can be used for the needs of further research or for the needs of education and can be part of a preventive process in school system. The results can be also used for a better measure of informedness about selected risk behaviour of children and adolescents. Supervisor of the Bachelor Thesis: Mgr. Drug Abuse and Crime of Youngsters
BRÁZDOVÁ, Pavla
Nowadays this pathological phenomenon is widely spread. Despite the tendencies of repressing it, drug abuse is presented in the society, youngers including. Crime appears in association with drug abuse. The youngters undergo many significant changes connected with the age and they do not always cope with it successfully. They are predisposed to admitting a risky way of life and so they can become drug addicted quite easily. This work informs readers about the most common drugs used by the younsters, brings the characteristics of the drugs and the adolescents as a specific group together with the imminent danger and refers to kinds of drug crime as well as to its prevention. The aim of the work is to clarify the causes of the crime done by the younsters who use intoxicants and psychotropics. The author focused on family background of the young people, the kinds of drugs they use and their personal lives. All the findings were interpreted on the basis of similar features. A qualitative method, based on expert opinion of fifteen people observed, was used. In this particular case, the method was focused mainly on the family life, e.i. the background the child comes from. It resulted into the hypothesis that the young people come from one-parent or problem families where parent/s do not manage the upbringing sufficiently. The next part was centred on the criminal acts especially their kinds which are linked to the drug abuse. Followed from conclusion there are two main kinds of crime. Firstly keeping and producing drugs and secondly property crime the purpose of which is to raise money on drugs. As for the private lives of the young people, several interesting facts have resulted from the survey. The most important and surprising one is that the young drug users, who commit crime, cannot preserve long-term partner and labour relations.
Quality of services provided in counselling centres in comparison with requirements of clients in the South Bohemian region
HORVATOVIČOVÁ, Veronika
Counselling centres are facilities that provide services especially to problematic drug users. To achieve the highest possible effectiveness it is necessary to include also social surroundings (parents, partners or school) of the problematic drug user into the overall treatment. The fundamental prerequisite of existence of these centres is their accessibility without booking in advance and without waiting times for everyone who needs to deal with his or her emergency situation immediately. That is why these centres are called mentally and socially barrier-free, so called low-threshold facilities. I have chosen the qualitative method to conduct the research. As a technique for data gathering I selected secondary data analysis and semi-structured interviews with drug users who visit counselling centres. For the research I used data from annual reports from counselling centres in Písek and České Budějovice. The results of my research could be useful for workers in helping professions, for workers dealing with the issue of illegal drug abuse, to improve the effectiveness of services in the counselling centres or as groundwork for further research or training.
Criminal activity releated to the use of illegal drugs
NOVÁK, Martin
In my thesis I deal with illegal drug use leading to criminality. Drug abuse has been a debated issue recently because drugs are omnipresent in our society. Illegal drug use has been a serious problem worldwide. Due to its geographical location, shortly after 1989 and after the fall of the Iron Curtain the Czech Republic has become both a transit and a destination country for all sorts of drugs within a short time. The objective of my thesis is to examine, describe and analyse the overall criminality in the Prague area in 2005 {--} 2007. The other concern of my research was to determine the drug addicts´ contribution in proportion to the overall criminality. I set three hypotheses: H I : The most common drug addicts´criminal activity is theft. H II : Most drug addicted criminal offenders are male. H III : The most common drug being abused is pervitin. The thesis is divided into two parts {--} theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part the development of the drug scene in the Czech Republic and crimes committed by drug addicts are described. I also give information on detection, investigation and criminal sanctions in criminality caused by drug addicts. I gathered the data from specialist literature. In the practical part I used the technique of the secondary statistical data analysis. I analysed the statistical data from 2005 {--} 2007 obtained from the Police of the Czech Republic Headquarters. The research was conducted by the quantitative questionnaire method and the data obtained were analysed. The data were put into charts and diagrams. All the hypotheses suggested were confirmed. The objective of my thesis was accomplished.
Public awareness of drug problems in České Budějovice district
KOZLOVÁ, Lucie
ABSTRACT Addictive drugs are all around us and they have become a part of our lives. The issue of drug abuse is of critical importance, global, and difficult to solve. Typically, drugs are categorized as tolerated or not tolerated by society, and more or less risky. It is vital, therefore, to know the attitude of public to the issue. Lots of drug abuse causes have already been revealed, just like the reasons why some users develop addiction while others do not. In all probability the abuse of drugs or the addiction development cannot be put down to a single background factor. Everything will depend on personality traits of the individual, on his or her environmental conditions, and on specific effects of the drug. Since I take much interest in these issues, I have chosen for my thesis the subject of Public awareness of drug abuse issues in the District of České Budějovice. I investigated what people knew about drug abuse at the District where I live; their opinions of drug abuse; whether they believed that drug abuse deteriorated social position of an individual; whether they believed it boosted the rate of crime; if people were informed about facilities assisting recovery from drug addiction within the District of České Budějovice; and, last but not least, whether they suspected what drugs could come in their way here. The thesis aimed to examine what people knew about the drug abuse issues in the České Budějovice District. This objective has been met. Fifty three percent of respondents were found well informed on the subject, while the remaining 47% lacked the information. The survey was to prove or disprove hypothesis that the public was unaware of organizations providing help to drug addicts - the hypothesis was not confirmed since 51% of respondents were informed about the relevant organizations and 49% were not. Another hypothesis predicted that the public could not tell the illegal drugs from the legal ones - it was not confirmed as the public was found sufficiently informed. The hypotheses expecting the public to believe that drug abuse drives crime and deteriorates the addict's social position were confirmed by the bulk of respondents living in the District of České Budějovice. Ninety nine percent of the respondents believed the drug abuse pushed up the crime rate and 95% were of the opinion that it affected the addict's social position. As follows from the survey, the public in the České Budějovice District was relatively well informed of the drug abuse issues, though the differences encountered between awareness and unawareness of the subject were just minor. I intend to release the thesis as an information source for the general public(in the form of brochures, internet publications or periodicals); moreover, I want to offer the results to organizations engaged in the drug abuse treatment and to students of the University of South Bohemia to serve as training material. The public will find a wealth of important drug-related information in the paper, while the addiction treating organizations will be prompted to fill the gaps still existing in information available to the general public.
The psychosocial factors which impact on genesis of drug dependences.
JANEČKOVÁ, Zdeňka
The present magisterial work explores issues of substance abuse while focusing on psychosocial factors influencing the onset of drug dependency. Definitions of what is a drug, what is drug dependency, history of drugs, and a list of most frequently abused types of drugs are discussed in the theoretical part of the present work. In addition, this part includes a discussion of possible prevention ways. The practical part describes qualitative research observations of 13 selected adult participants that are drug dependent. Theoretical approaches are applied to the given authentic narratives and the stories are finely analyzed. The aim of the work is to examine some assertions concerned with the causes and development of {\clqq}drug dependency`` phenomenon. Our findings indicate that in case {\clqq}drug dependency`` is an illness, it is an atypical illness: the individuals` paths from a healthy state to the state of illness are unique for each individual, though similar in its symptoms, nevertheless differing in their causes. Drug dependency does not seem to be a civilization disease and is not influenced by cultural or social factors. Thus it has not been determined whether drug abuse is truly an illness. However, the final stage of the {\clqq}drug path`` {--} i.e., drug dependency- is seen as illness, its onset is individual and partially genetically determined, with no parenting influence.
An Institution Helping People Being Treated with a Drug Abuse Problem in South Bohemia
ČENOVSKÁ, Petra
The work attempts to bring closer projects whose aim is to help people returning from psychiatric institutions and therapeutic communities (having been treated for dependance) back into the community. Taking into account that such projects do not have a long history, having started in 1999 onwards, there are not many within the Czech Republic. To look into this issue I chose the Centre of Follow-up Care in České Budějovice. I portray their philosophy, aims, day-to-day operations, range of services on offer in terms of theory as well as practice. In the practical part I found out the level of satisfaction amongst the clients with the services offered, and the project as a whole. During my short stay in the project I noticed the level of openness and helpfulness showed by the workers in relation to the clients {--} offered services are carried out with a high degree of responsibility and a more than adequate degree of understanding and support which is mirrored in the answers in my questionnaire. Work is carried out with lots of commitment and clients manage to value it when assessing the offered services.
The life quality at family members of clients with drug addiction depending on their sex
ŠVANCAROVÁ, Alena
The National Strategy for Antidrug Policy for the period 2005 to 2009 is a key document nowadays. Situation in the field of drugs remains stable. Cannabis products and ecstasy are illegal substances used in most cases. Two basic appliances {--} questionnaires and interviews {--} were used in the research of this bachelor thesis. The investigated complex comprised 37 parents and 22 siblings. The sample was determined with random selection. The aim of the research was to define the period of the worst stress at family members of clients with drug addiction. Just the discovery of a family member{\crq}s drug addiction was indicated the worst stress period. Changed appearance, telling lies and change of friends were described as the main indication leading to the conclusion of a family member{\crq}s addiction. Depending on the discovery of problems with drugs the family contentment is changing considerably. It turned out that men solve their family situations connected with drug addiction of a member in a completely passive way. That is why there is a very bad cooperation with curative institutions. The research shows that respondents-siblings were informed on their sibling{\crq}s addiction much earlier than their parents.

Regulace vs. Prohibice
