Accelerated endurance testing of electromechanical airplane actuator
Fritscher, Matyáš ; Juračka, Jaroslav (referee) ; Klištinec, Dávid (advisor)
This diploma thesis, created in cooperation with Honeywell International, s.r.o., focuses on long-term durability testing of electromechanical actuators (EMA) for aerospace applications. Due to the current trend of replacing hydraulic actuation with electromechanical actuation, it is necessary to develop new procedures for the testing and certification of these devices. The research conducted provides an overview of the standards relevant to the development of accelerated EMA testing. The work also describes a specific EMA long term life test and analyzes the results obtained. Two key parameters affecting EMA performance and lifetime are presented and the associated actuator components are identified. Several possible modifications based on current results are also suggested. Finally, the thesis presents conceptual proposals for accelerating similar EMA tests. The results of this thesis can provide useful input for the design of future accelerated EMA tests, thereby helping to reduce the cost and time associated with their development and market introduction.
