Fiber Optic Michelson Interferometer
Dorazin, David
The aim of this paper is to theoretically desribe function of the Optic fiber Michelson interferometer and its parts with description of the most important issues which can occure due to bad design. Second part of this paper is dedicated to simulation of the optic fiber Michelson interefometer in professional simulation software VPIphotonics.
Optical fibre sensors
Gallo, Martin ; Šifta, Radim (referee) ; Münster, Petr (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to examine in detail the possibility of fiber as optical sensor. This work deals with optical fiber sensors, their distribution and use. Describes the most renowned types, their advantages and disadvantages. At the beginning of this thesis there is an introduction to optical fibers, description of well-known linear and nonlinear phenomena occurring in them, development of optical sensors. Sensors are cleraly divided by usage and common attributes. The paper focuses on distributed optical fiber sensors and includes two different designs of these sensors there are also basic principles in designing distributed sensors. At the end of the work, the sensor using Brillouin scattering measuring vibration is simulated in the simulation program. Viewed transmitted signal spectra are shown and conclusions of results are drawn.
Detection of acoustic vibrations using optical fibers
Skliar, Pavlo ; Dejdar, Petr (referee) ; Münster, Petr (advisor)
This bachelor thesis examines the possibilities of utilization optical fiber acoustic sensors. Introduction part describes the basic principles of signal transmission in optical fiber and the interaction of acoustic waves with optical fiber. Operational principles of different types of optical fiber acoustic sensors are explained further in the text. The fiber Mach-Zehnder interferometer is described in detail in this work. The work is focused on the possibilities of utilization single point and distributed optical fiber acoustic sensors. In the practical part, measurements were performed using a commercial optical fiber microphone and an implemented fiber Mach-Zehnder interferometer connected to a polarimeter.
Optical Distributed Sensor Systems
Dorazin, David ; Münster, Petr (referee) ; Čučka, Milan (advisor)
This bachelors thesis solves possibilities of utilization optical fiber as a sensor. At the beginning the thesis desribes basic principle of ligh transmition in optical fiber, optical fiber and his linear and nonlinear properties. Second part of the thesis deals with sorting of distributed optical fiber sensors and describes each type of the sorted sensor due to principle which they work on. The Michelson interferometer is described and its modification in the form of the Fiber optic Michelson interferometer, which is designed and simulated in the VPIphotonics software. At the end of the thesis is performed measuring of vibrations by the Fiber optic Mach-Zehnder interferometer.
