SUMMARY: The aim of the thesis is to define a development and contemporary status of the Central Military Archives as a information system. It describes the entire information cycle of a document from its origin through the deposition at the department of conservation, in the administrative and final archive at last. It shows Central Military Archives and its importance as a significant entity in the field of digitization. Significant European national digital libraries

This bachleor thesis focuses on two main objectives. First objective is to map and describe selected national digital libraries in Europe. Second objetive is to describe its cooperation with Europeana portal. Definitions of basic terms are mentioned in the first chapter. Theoretical part of this thesis comprises of description of qualitative and quantitative characteristics of selected NDL according to mentioned model. This model concentrates on user accessibility, description of provided materials and description of web sites. Pactical part consists of comparison of the research outcomes and description of the cooperation with Europeana portal on general and specific level.

Significant non-European national digital libraries

The bachelor thesis introduces and describes in detail selected non-European national digital libraries, compares them with each other and compares them with European digital libraries and outlines their relationship to mass digitization projects. The introduction is dedicated to explaining basic terms. The project description is focused especially on user accessibility, materials in digital collections and cooperation at the national and the international level. Analysis of current archiving problems and approach to their solutions

The final thesis is dealing with long-term preservation of document and related issues with it. At the beginning of the thesis are defined terms such as paper and digital document and lifecycle it has to go through. Next parts are devoted to selected standards and recommendations, metadata, the most widely used approaches in this area, which are migration and emulation, most used technologies and the last part of this section is dedicated to security meters. The survey deals with still active projects which start at the beginning of last year. These projects show new trends and possibilities in this area. From twelve project were selected four interesting of them (ARCOMEM, ENSURE, TIMBUS, SCAPE) which are subsequently described from different perspectives, compared and evaluated.
Approaches to archiving of digital documents

This bachelor thesis deals with problems of digital archiving (or digital preservation). The objective is to analyze the current possibilities of archiving of digital documents and to characterize the supply side of services market in the Czech Republic, which focus on these activities. From the standpoint of the structure the work is divided into two parts. In the first - theoretical, based on studies of literature and internet resources, I dedicate first on definition of document and digital document, the properties of digital documents, their anchorage in the Czech legislation, and their life cycle. The following are the approximated terminology of archiving, description of the digital archive and the actions it performed, and finally is set out the life cycle of digital archiving. In the second part - practical, then there are described and displayed the results of the research of the Czech market, focusing on services related to digital archiving and determined statements about the market conditions in the area.
