Influence of Second Language on Communication in bilingual teaching and learning of Mathematics

This work refers to the topic of bilingual mathematics education. It is focused on monitoring the communicational influences of teacher's and pupil's language, categorization of the disturbing effects and possibilities, how the teacher should prepare for them and how to solve them. A significant role plays the reflection of the teacher, as the results were done on the basis of action research during teaching in England, Germany and the Czech Republic. The teaching was realized in a second language as well for the teacher as for the pupils. The teacher was at the same time experimenter as well as author of this work. The theoretical part results from dealing with scientific literature about bilingualism, bilingual education, methodology of CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), relations between first language, language of mathematics and the foreign language. In the practical part an analysis of lessons performed in mathematics with the subject of probability is carried out. The teaching was focused on playing a game with dice and deciding whether the game is fair or not. The lessons were audio taped and transcriptions of the spoken language were made. Enviromental education in the teaching of mathematic

This diploma work is focused on the introduction of environmental topics in teaching mathematics at the secondary schools including grammar schools. The thesis are a response to the lack of those topics in teaching at the secondary schools, which are not specified for physical sciences and timeliness of environmental problems in our community as a whole. The diploma work content are solved mathematical problems with methodological notes for math teachers. Logic interface of environmental problems with students knowledge of biology and geography for the relevant grade is the major effort of the thesis. Annexes contain worksheets for students. The aim of this diploma work is to inspire math teachers at the secondary schools to engage these problems or the environmental problems of their own in teaching.

Selected topics for teaching mathematics in school with the interactive whiteboard - planimetry

The diploma thesis covers points, line segments, lines and half-lines, angles, circles, triangles and their teaching through computers and interactive whiteboards. It is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The first one covers motivation for learning, constructivism, evaluation of teaching materials and interactivity in school environment. The practical part contains worksheets for teaching with an interactive whiteboard created by the author of the thesis and their use in Year Six of primary and lower-secondary schools. In the conclusion the author mentions his observations gained during his own teaching practice.

Problems about motion in high school Mathematics

This work contains reasearch of the procedures and strategies used for mathematical problems of motion by high school students, as well as analysis of student´s problem solving. This part if followed by a compilation of problems in order to practice solving of the motion problems. This compilation is divided into several parts, while each of the parts focuses on different types of problems.
