Desing and Implementation of Business Intelligence in Web Environment

This thesis discusses Bussiness Intelligence as a supporting tool for decision making in company leadership. A design of such tool in web-based environment, fitted for a concrete company, as well as a real-life solution, built on the PHP platform and using the MySQL relational database, is provided. The resulting application makes use of both tables and charts for data visualisation, thus showcasing a simplified view for better data usage and understanding.

This bachelor‘s thesis focuses on analysis of optimization of e-commerce website. The aim of this work is to outline the optimization solutions from different point of views including online marketing, information architecture, web analytics and other weak points identified by the analysis. Several approaches of methodology will be used to support the analysis, such as data mining analysis of a shopping basket integrated within e-commerce website. The economic benefits of the final optimisation solutions will be assessed and the recommendations will be set out.

There is the group of specialists or teams chosen, on which the performance analysis is being performed that can serve as the base for further managerial decision making. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and the practical part. The theoretical part contains description of methods that are used and are applied in practice and might be applicable in Acision ltd. The practical part contains description of business process and business data analysis where modern methods are being used (Business Intelligence – Data mining) and contains own design of how to make data mining applicable upon these process.

Automation of ordering system errors

The bachelor thesis focuses on the creation of the automatic error cleansing software which clears the errors generated by the ordering system. Based on the error analysis (e.g. their causes and possibilities of their correction) the software enables the automatic error correction without the necessity of any manual action resulting in minimal delay of customers’ orders.

Gender recognition from the text data

This bacheor`s work is focused on gender identification from a text just from an e-mail`s form and also contemporary techniques of data mining and text mining. The technique`s advantages and disadvantages and options of use. There was realized a program for recognizing gender in Java. In a program Rapid Miner is demostrated processing various learning methods. By both programs thete are described their basic attributes, used methods and operators used in the implementation. The programs were tested ona real data. Then there are mentioned methods for program`s extends. eventually there are given examples as the programs process stated assignment.

Automated extraction of data from HTML

This thesis deals with data extraction from web pages created in HTML language. It describes methods of downloading pages from remote server using HTTP protocol, document charset encoding and options for extraction content from elements. It also shows ways in which authors of web sites can prevent automatic web scraping. These were used to create C# applications for extraction data from two Czech Police databases – Investigation for person and Investigation for cars. These applications allow to download data from remote database, save to local database and search or show required data.

Monitoring of communication properties in Internet

This thesis deals with measuring transmission parameters of the Internet network, in particular latency of ping, SSH protocol and bandwidth. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. Theoretical part describes PlanetLab network, its brief history and contemporary projects. At the same time, tools for data mining from web pages are described. These information obtained from the theoretical part are used for creating PlanetLab nodes list and for programming applications which measure the network transmission parameters. Applications, list of nodes and obtained data are attached on DVD disc.
