SMEJKALOVÁ, Michaela
The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with basic information about autism. It clarifies the onset, types and manifestation of autism. Another important topic of this thesis is Music Therapy. Firstly it describes Music Therapy in general and subsequently tries to find a proper Music Therapy treatment for people suffering from Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to mitigate the manifestation of autism. It further presents the preparation and presentation of a lesson in Auticentrum (Autism Centre) České Budějovice conducted by Mgr. Dana Pšeničková. The practical part focuses on qualitative research and answering the following question: "Is Music Therapy an asset in the area of contact with people suffering from ASD?" The case study addresses one boy suffering from ASD and evaluates his progress during the lessons in the Music Therapy group. It tries to uncover the answer to the basic research question using gathering of data from several resources.
