Jitka Sýkorová Title: The Use of Craft and Creative Arts in Occupational Therapy Abstract: The bachelor thesis addresses the topic of Arts and Crafts in occupational therapy. Arts and Craft are linked with the profession from its beginnings. Craft activities were one of the first meaningful occupations the occupational therapists ever used in their work. These activities were also the first occupations expertly analyzed by occupational therapists. As the society evolved, the role of arts and crafts in occupational therapy changed. Today, the use of Arts and Crafts in therapy is a controversial topic that divides occupational therapists. Some see Arts and Crafts only as a historical part of the profession, outdated and anachronistic, and refuse to use them in their work. Others feel their potential and try to find ways of purposefully including them in their patients' rehabilitation plans. The bachelor thesis presents a view of Arts and Crafts as a therapeutic tool. It charts the inclusion of these activities in the history of the profession and describes the current situation.
