This diploma thesis deals with the design of a family house in the district of Havlíčkův Brod, where its load-bearing construction system is a timber frame structure. The functionality of the structure is ensured by the interaction of columns, horizontal elements and cladding. Emphasis is placed on the use of natural materials; in case of insulation with straw bales, in the use of local material for clay partitions and plaster, or in the design of a green roof. The literature review is initially focused on ecology, sustainability and healthy natural architecture. Furthermore, materials and their physical and mechanical properties are analyzed. The thesis deals with a suitable layout solution for a family of three, from which the resulting floor plan is designed in order to meet the hygienic regulations and standards. The choice of compositions of individual structures is supplemented by the calculation of the heat transfer coefficient and the evaluation of the overall energy balance of the design using the PHPP planning tool. The roof load-bearing structures are preliminarily dimensioned according to the empirical relations from the STEICO technical manual. The thesis contains the project documentation in the scope for construction proceedings, including technical and accompanying reports and a rough pricing estimation of the designed family house. Pricing estimation is carried out on the basis of compiling an itemized budget. The bachelor thesis is focused on design of construction of family house using natural materials, especially straw. First, the reader learns both general and technical information about the material used, and gets some reason why the natural building material has just been used. The main part of the work is devoted to designing the documentation of a straw family single-storey house with an attic on a particular plot. An object visualization can be considered as an add-on. This work is gently shed on the idea of a journey through a construction that reflects the environment as a gift of man, this gift should be passed on to the next generations in the best condition.

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to design a wooden family house for a young, two to three-member family, which will be ecologically and financially unpretentious for implementation, use, maintenance and disposal. This project will serve as a basis for building permits. The project "Design low-cost wood buildings made of natural materials" should be an example of the direction of sustainable construction. The project will be firstly designed in accordance to layout with applicable hygiene regulations and standard requirements and with regard to efficient use of space, material and energy. In the next step of the design will be chosen a suitable construction system, materials and individual construction structures for the design of wooden buildings, with an emphasis on the price and sustainable and ecological solution of the construction. Part of the work will be drawing documentation, technical and accompanying report, energy intensity of the house, 3D visualization of the supporting structure and the final appearence of the building.
