The meaning of life of children living in a children's home
PETRŮ, Barbora
Theoretical part focuses on children's Home as an institution and on social work in children's Home. It describes possible causes for placing children in constitutional care and socially-legal children protection. It also describes family and related di- sorders of parenthood and families. It's mentioned here the meaning of life and questions about the purpose of existence as viewed by Viktor E. Frankl. The theore- tical part characterizes working in direct client care and children age categories, es- pecially preschool age, school age and adolescence. The deprivation of child related to placement in children's home is also described at the end of theoretical part. Practical part concentrates on qualitative research with the goal of mapping ideas of children about life from the view of caretakers. It processes structured inter- views with open questions of four participants, then it separates the children ideas into age groups, where the reader can even see how the ideas have evolved with age.
Theory of attachment and there use in social work
OPELKOVÁ, Tereza
This bachelor thesis is focused on the topic of the attachment theory and its use in social work. The aim of this thesis is to find out whether social workers at OSPOD are familiar with the attachment theory and whether they use it in their practice. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part is based on literature review, which deals with the topic of attachment theory. It is mainly literature containing the terms attachment, typology of attachment, attachment failure, institutional education, foster family care or the concept of a social worker. It also contains literature review on developmental psychology that deals with the psychosocial development of infant and toddler age. To elaborate the practical part of my bachelor thesis I have chosen a strategy of qualitative research. The data was obtained from questionnaires and from a semi-structured interview technique. The interview consisted of 9 questions. The resulting finding were that social workers of OSPOD gain experience about the developmental stages of early childhood within their compulsory education. They don't encounter theory of attachment in vocational training. It is clear from the research that they find information about the mentioned theory individually. Especially from literature and internet websites. In practice, they only use this theory to evaluate the needs of the children. In the case of therapeutic methods used by attachment theory, clients in this case rely on professionals or workplaces, as in the provision of social and legal protection of children therapeutic methods are not applied in the possibilities and capabilities of OSPOD workers. This work serves as an information source about theory of attachment, intended for social workers with emphasis on its use
