Speaker Attitudes to the Freiburg Regional Dialect. A Contribution to the Relationship of the Standard Language, Colloquial Speech and Dialect.

This thesis is concerned with the attitude of speakers (people) from 'Freiburg' and the local dialect, other dialects and also standard language. The theoretical section of the thesis provides analysis of the terms: standard language, colloquial language and dialect. These terms are important for the questionnaire research, which is submitted within the practical section of the thesis. In addition, the thesis also gives consideration to both the present and possible future of this dialect and standard language. Supporting graphics illustrate these relationships and attitudes of the speakers (people) from the perspective of their gender, age and origin.
