HAJS, David
The submitted diploma thesis Commemorative books of selected South Bohemian parishes from 17.-20. century in mutual comparison follows the development of parish chronicles of five units of the Roman Catholic Church administration in the Vicariate of České Budějovice-countryside. The primary goal, apart from the aforementioned comparison, is to present a detailed analysis of all ten mentioned books from Bílá Hůrka, Chrášťany, Nákří, Rudolfov and Týn nad Vltavou during the selected time period. The work is divided into six chapters. The introductory part outlines the aims of the work and presents applied sources and used literature. The first section summarizes the history of the municipalities to which the above-mentioned clerical administrations perfunctorily belonged to. The second section thoroughly reflects the history of the Roman Catholic Church administration in southern Bohemia. The third part briefly clarifies the genesis and subsequent evolution of parish chronicles within the boundaries of Czech lands. External features and formal requirements of selected commemorative books are part of the fourth chapter. The penultimate part represents the very core of the text, as it extensively documents the content of memorial records of individual authors of parish chronicles. The sixth section offers a recapitulation of selected features of the monitored commemorative books according to a branched categorization of various criteria and aspects. The final section summarizes acquired findings and presents their prospective usage for future research purposes. Selected graphical appendices in the form of several tabular charts of all the authors of the monitored parish chronicles are included at the very end of the submitted thesis.
