Business Process Modelling techniques: BPMN and EPC, comparision and a practical illustration

This thesis considers the basics of business process management, namely the business process modelling. It pays attention to the two significant notations in the business process modelling. Those notatons are: The Business Process Modelling Notation and the Event- Driven Process Chain. in the introduction it describes the importance of process modelling from the BPM point of view. As well it describes the basic ideas and fundamentals both of the mentioned notations.Also it endeavours to discover the differences between the notations and make a recommenation on when to use each of the notations. The main part, however, focuses on modelling of the processes of a student organization called Buddy System. It offers a complete listing of periodically repeated activities inside the organization. In one of the parts of the thesis there are also described some significant diferrences between the notations in case of use by a non-profit organization. Finally it gives a recommendation on when to use which notation under specific conditions.
