Influence of selected factors on the fattening capacity and carcass values of bulls in the control station Želeč
PUFR, Josef
Cattle breeding is one of the part of traditional Czech agriculture. It is a vital part of economy consisting of two main branches - milk and beef production. Beef is one of the main products of cattle breeding sometimes provided by fattening of heifers, cows and bulls. Producing meat with the highest quality with low costs is the main goal of fattening the cattles. I have tested the influence of selected fators on the fattening capacity and carcass values of Czech Fleckvieh bulls in the control station as well as the economic requirements of the fattening period. I have compared the test period of 530 ? 10 days with period of 610 ? 10 days of fattening using the old and new technology of supplementation. Further fattening was provided by results of growing Charolais, Limousin and Czech Fleckvies x Simmental bulls. The results suggest that the increase of the period of fattening for 80 days had a positive effect on carcass yield (p < 0.001), assigning in the classification according to SEUROP and profitability of farming. The positiv relationships between breeding value of fathers and carcass yield of their sons was observed. Finally, the positive influence of new technology of fattening on the classification acording to SEUROP was shown.
The processing of the cold-blooded stallions catalogue
RAJŠLOVÁ, Jana
The bachelor thesis deals with the processing of the cold-blooded stallions catalogue, which should help to breeders in selecting of a stallion. The main sources for the bachelor thesis were especially catalogues published by breeding organisations in the Czech Republic together with catalogues provided by organisations in other countries. As other sources have also been used catalogues with breeding bulls, especially for a very sophisticated estimates of the breeding values. When comparing the dates provided by various organisations, it was found that in none of Czech catalogues are not the results of the breeding value estimations. In contrast, in the current world it is common to state the breeding values for dressage, jumping, exterior and sometimes also physical dimensions with the sport horses. Mostly are these breeding values completed with a graph. That is why the breeding values for linear features of the exterior description together with the graph adequate to these values were complemented into the design of the cold-blooded stallions catalogue, so that the breeders can compare individual stallions and choose the most suitable one. In conclusion, the established results were evaluated and the methods which follows to improvement of the catalogue in the Czech Republic were suggested. Mainly which information is important to fill into the catalogue and in which period the catalogue should be actualised.
Influence of chosen effects on efficiency of beef breeds
WITZANY, Jiří
Influence of chosen effects on efficiency of beef breeds Aberdeen Angus, Charolais, Limousine and meat-type Siemental, which were breeded in South Bohemia, was observed in this study. Impact of breed on average weight of calves in different ages, calving month and the serial number of the birth, influence of father´s relative breeding value, dependence of average age of pure bred female on reason of elimination and effect of stocking rate of a pasture on daily weight gain were evaluated.
