SUBJECTIVE VIEW ON QUALITY OF LIFE OF PEOPLE WITH MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS AT SAINT JOSEF´S HOUSE AT ŽIREČ.
KRÁLOVÁ, Inka
Sclerosis multiplex (disseminated) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system occuring to young people mostly. This is a diagnosis that changes a person{\crq}s life entirely. The people suffering from the disease gradually become fully dependent on the other people{\crq}s help. The disease is usually diagnosed at people at the age 20 {--} 40. Domov sv. Josefa (St. Joseph{\crq}s Hospice) in Žireč provides good conditions for dignified and full-value life of the ill people, and psychical support in their fight with the destiny. The hospice is the only of its kind in the Czech Republic though the number of applications for staying here is increasing and the capacity of the hospice is not sufficient. Most people with the diagnosis of sclerosis multiplex stay in seclusion; mostly they get divorced or stay with their elderly parents. Domov sv. Josefa offers the ill people the solution of their difficult life situation. In my work I found out patients{\crq} subjective opinions on the quality of their lives in the hospice and how the people with sclerosis disseminated live in the ward of permanent residence in Domov sv. Josefa. The essay should help to increase the awareness of Domov sv. Josefa because I believe the care facilities of the kind should be more numerous in the Czech Republic. This is a way how to solve the difficult situation of many people suffering from sclerosis disseminated and how to allow them to have dignified, active and full-value lives.
