Grate Biomass Boiler

The aim of the thesis is a design of a grate steam boiler with capacity of 35 t/h and output steam parameters with temperature 430 °C and pressure 4,1 MPa. The first part of the thesis deals with stoichiometric calculations and boiler efficiency. The theses mainly focuses on the heat transfer calculation and the geometric design of individual heat transfer surfaces. The specifics of fuel are taken into consideration. The drawing of the basic boiler scheme is a part of the thesis.
Multicyclone treatment behind biomass boiler

The diploma thesis deals with multitube cyclone changes leading to improve separating efficiency of solid particles. The thesis begins with theoretical part, in which the attributes and types of solid particle separators focusing on cyclones are presented. The practical part begins with separating efficiency and pressure drop calculation of the specific multitube cyclone. Subsequently the separating problem is explained and the changes leading to eliminating this problem are presented and evaluated. In the last and main part of thesis the design project including piping design and fan choice is created.
Temperature field in solid fuel

The diploma thesis deals with a temperature field in a solid fuel during the combustion process. At the beginning of this thesis, research of available literature was conducted to obtain information about the composition of wood, properties affecting the combustion process, and the basics of heat transfer. Afterward, the temperature profiles of the samples were recorded during the measurement in the observation furnace. The temperature profiles of samples of six different sizes which were made of spruce and beech wood were subsequently evaluated and compared. Based on experimentally obtained data, a mathematical model was created in the OpenModellica software. Finally, the results of the mathematical model were compared with experimentally obtained data and appropriate conclusions were deduced.
Building evaluation in the form of building energy performance certificate

The bachelor thesis deals with the evaluation of the energy performance of the office building in Brno. The theoretical part deals about biomass and its use in heating buildings. In the computational part, it is evaluated the energy performance of building. The result is building energy performance certificate inserted into part C – the PENB project.

In suburban forestry there is a need not only to manage a maximum financial result, but also to support recreational and aesthetic forest functions. Thus, these forests need professional treatments in the form of proper silvicultural methods to maintain stand stability. One of these methods is cultivation of mixed stands with Norway spruce. This study examines the mortality of spruce growing in stands in lower forest vegetation zones with time series of 50 years and the changes in biomass production in young variously mixed stands in three different vegetation zones. According to the results, it is beneficial to grow spruce in the range from 5 to 10% of admixture in stand establishment stage. Due to silvicultural treatments and inter species interactions, spruce representation in a stand may increase to 30% in the mature stands. Spruce trees tended this way in young age partly will be outcompeted by other species, but the remaining individuals will adapt to the existing environmental conditions and thus the whole stand will be more stable. Biomass production of spruce trees depends on its representation in the stand. The higher the spruce admixture, the lower will be average spruce tree biomass. The study indicated that in young stands up to 30% of spruce representation, its biomass was up to 100% greater than in spruce monocultures.
Acidic Hydrolysis of Waste Feather Biomass - Processes Scale-Up.

The paper present novel data on acidic hydrolysis of waste chicken feathersin presence of water solution containing carboxylic acid catalyst with the pKa value lower than 4, instirred batch reactors, in the temperature range from 114°Cto 150°C and at the pertinent vapour pressure of reaction mixture.The process was scaled-up from laboratory bench scale to pilot plant dimensions using batch high pressure autoclaves. Process conditions were applied according to patent application1. Knowledge of kinetic aspects of the featherhydrolysis and process parameters operation window are inevitable for asuccessful process scale up2,3.

Influence of pyrolysis temperature on the quality of biochar.

Biochar is a solid residue from biomass carbonization processes that ca be further used in agriculture. Parameters influencing quality of biochar are pyrolysis temperature, heating rate, residence time, type of the reactor and type of feed biomass. This work addresses the influence of pyrolysis temperature.

Agropellets for Combustion

Agropellets are one of the alternative fuels which have been used very often nowadays. Therefore, this thesis deals with the use of agropellets as a fuel. It‘s focused on the generation of emissions during combustion. There are described properties of pollutants released during combustion and properties of agropellets. In a sample of selected fuels, the proportion of chemical composition of elements in the combustible and the calculation of their calorific value are experi-mentally determined. Furthermore, we found out the basic elemental composition of the flue gas, which was measured during combustion on the pilot unit.
