Biblical themes in works of Jewish artists on the territory of The Russian Empire at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries

This master thesis is focused on problematics of biblical themes in works of the Jewish artists on the territory of The Russian Empire at the turn of the 19th-20th centuries. The introduction of the work deals with socio-political and cultural conditions of the Jewish community, which lived in the pre-revolutionary Imperial Russia. The following part, on the basis of archive materials, remained daily press, periodic press and memoirs, presents two important cultural centres: Jewish Societies for the Encouragement of Arts in Saint-Petersburg and in Moscow, notably their significant support for development of the Jewish arts in Russian culture of that time. The main, third part of the research presents the creative activity of the most prominent representatives of the Jewish art scene and analysis key trends in choosing biblical themes for their art production. Biblical motives in the work of František Hrubín

The thesis attempts to analyse the František Hrubín's poetry in which the parallels with The Scripture or biblical themes could be found. The thesis sorts discovered themes to those that can and to those that cannot be analyzed with the Scripture. The important findings is whether the discovered themes can be essentially marked as biblical or if they are used also with the other meaning by the author. Partical objective is the finding of identical themes in the other authors pieces and comparing them with the themes of František Hrubín. The thesis looks for the connections between the subjects, themes or with the author's writing itself or his contemporaries.
Biblical motives in Dr. Martin Luther King´s speeches.

This paper is concerned with the last speech of Martin Luther King Jr., known as {\clqq}I have Been To The Mountain Top``, and with the way of how its author uses biblical motives in it. The first part of this paper offers a short overview of Martin Luther King{\crq}s life and activities in the struggle against rasist separation of the black Amarican population. The second part contains the text of the speech with the biblical motives and quotations highlighted. Then the author describes the context of eqch of these bilical quotations in the Bible itself end then in the Martin Luther King{\crq}s speech. There is one attachment containing the Czech translation of the discussed speech by the author of the paper.
