This bachelor thesis is dealing with the development of banking intermediation in selected countries - Czech republic, Slovakia and Austria. First chapter is dealing with basic characteristics of banking and financial intermediaries and their functions. It also focuses on importance of bank intermediation in modern economy. Next chapter is focused on analysis of banking sectors of selected countries, based on selected indicators. Their interpretiation and then comparison between them. Account is taken of the impact of historical development in each country. In the last chapter is evaluated influence of banking sector on basis of correlation analysis of selected variables and selected macroeconomic indicators.

In this thesis were analyzed factors and described development of banking intermediation in Russian Federation using theoretical bases, mentioned in a separate section. Investigation is focused on period from 2004 to 2018. All data used in research has quarterly frequency. Dependency between banking intermediation and chosen indicators (macroeconomic and sectoral) was inspected using correlation analysis. Banking intermediation was measured by the volume of deposits and loans, taken by both households and non-finance corporations. The results of research were compared to similar studies in this field.
