Cost of architectural and engineering work

This diploma thesis is dedicated to possibilities for assessing the costs of architectural and engineering works. The aim of the diploma thesis is determining costs which are associated with architectural and engineering work and then to define costs per unit of measure – an hour of work and m3 built-up space. The next step is to compare real prices of contracts with those found from the pricing tools used in the Czech Republic. The result is to formulate conclusions and summary of results, which were find out from the practical part of this diploma thesis.

94 Abstract The purpouse of my thesis is to provide a comprehensive overview of the issues of copyright in architecture. I tis very complex topic and orientation in it brings many difficulties not only to public. As revealed in my work, there is very few litigation on this issue, but that doesn't mean that they doesn't exist at all. However, architects or architectural ateliers mostly aren't interested in venturing into protracted disputies and the vast majority of these disputies ends with out court settlements. This behavior is understandable, since building design represents architect's livehood, they rather abates in their opinions rather than undergoing the time and economically disadvantageous battle with the investor. My diploma thesis consists of six chapters, each of them examines architectural work from a different perspective. The purpouse of the first chapter is to clarify the concept of architecture and traditional architecture, which the Copyright Act concieves just very briefly. The second chapter analyzes the characteristics of an architectural work, including the urbanistical work. Another part focuses on legal conceptual characteristicss that work must fulfill to be under the protection of copyright law. Beside that, I describe concept of authorship, co-autorship and employee work issues....

Title of thesis Copyright protectionof architectural work, current developmental trends Abstract This thesis explores the concept and protectionof architectural work and developmental trends in this legal area in the Czech Republic with respect to the valid copyright legislation. Architectural work is a work expressedthrough an architectural drawing,study, project documentation or a model, whereas in the absolute majority of cases the building itself is a reproduction of the architectural work. Subsequently, architectural work in the form of a building cannot be equated to the legislative term of architectural work in the sense of the copyright law. The work may be protected as architectural work only in the case that it fulfills the conceptual traits of author's work stipulated by the copyright law. These are defined both positively as well as negatively whereas the copyright law exempts some author's work from the copyright protection.Accordingtothe copyright law architectural workis definedas unique work of art which is the result of the creative work of an author and is expressed in an objectively perceivable form.
