Chapter 3 describes the individual activating practices with a description of the benefits, or possible negative effects, on users of residential service Activations help and support the consolidation and development of physical and mental strength, as well as maintaining or improving self-sufficiency. The efforts to activate elderly people must fully respect the individual abilities and requirements of each person as not everyone is happy to participate in therapeutic practices. Activations have an irreplaceable role in comprehensive care for the elderly in residential facilities. Nursing homes offer a variety of activities and possibilities for spending leisure time. Care in nursing homes aims to make the last stage of life easier and more pleasant for their elderly residents and helps them to use all the abilities each has in order to gain a sense of self-worth, meaningful life and harmony.
Social Exclusion at Senior Homes
STEJSKALOVÁ, Martina
This thesis deals with the social exclusion of senior citizens living in retirement homes. Each year there is an increase in the number of senior citizens which results in larger necessity of social services of live-in facilities. These facilities provide senior citizens with complex care incl. accommodation and board. In these facilities certain factors can occur that could deepen social exclusion. The risk of social exclusion is going up if the autonomy of senior citizens is being restricted and their vital human needs are not respected. In the area of live-in services it is crucial to view every senior citizen as a unique human being in the bio-psycho-socio-spiritual context and tailor the care to their specific needs. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on objectification of the terms which are based on technical literature and are important for understanding the mentioned issues as well. The chapters address the issues of the ageing process and the old age, periodization of the old age, distinctive changes in the old age, autonomy in relation to the old age, social services for senior citizens in the legislative framework with detailed focus on retirement homes, social exclusion and economic, political and social dimension with regard to the old age. The last chapter of the theoretical part aims at the retirement home in which the research survey has been conducted. At the request of the management of the retirement home and with respect to the ethical aspects of the survey the name of the facility is not stated in this thesis, however, the name Retirement home XY is used. The goal of the empirical part of this thesis is to map the factors which influence social exclusion of senior citizens in the chosen retirement home. The empirical part is then focused on finding the answer to the main research question. Three partial research questions have been determined in order to answer the main research question. For obtaining the necessary data the strategy of qualitative research a surveying method including the technique of semi-structured interview has been selected. The semi-structured interview has been carried out with nine inhabitants of the Retirement home XY who have been chosen on the basis of criteria of quota intentional selection. Quotas for research surveys have been set as follows: The resident of the Retirement home XY who has lived there for the time period of at least 24 months, the resident of the Retirement home XY who draws care allowance in the I. or II. level and the willingness to cooperate. The gained data have been evaluated by the method of creation of clusters, namely on the grounds of the common traits/features. The final data is introduced in compliance with the particular partial research questions. As emerged from the research, communication partners with movement difficulties do not have any contact with the surrounding environment. There is a lack of walks in the neighborhood. It has also been discovered that there is a shortage of excursions. Communication partners see more leisure time. Furthermore, the research has shown that the amount of contact with the immediate family and extended family has decreased. In the area of finance they do not see any considerable changes though some communication partners cannot afford to pay for the whole stay. They seem to be content with the board, after the chef has been changed, only some communication partners would welcome to have their dinner at a later time. Out of means of transport they make use of ambulance car predominantly. They feel neither need to transport themselves anywhere nor run errands. They appreciate the availability of health care, however, a wish has emerged that the general practitioner would visit the Retirement home XY at least twice a week. The results of the empirical part serve as feedback for the management of the Retirement home XY and can contribute to the improvement of the quality of the provided services.

Reviews of the Old Age with the Eyes of Young Generation
STEJSKALOVÁ, Martina
This bachelor´s thesis deals with the issues of ageing process and old age from the point of view of the younger generation. The ageing is a natural process which takes place continuously throughout the whole life. It can be stated that the ageing process is characterized by irreversible changes that are physically visible to the unaided eye. The old age can be described as the last natural period of a human being which starts after the evolutionary stages of childhood and adulthood. The determination of the beginning of old age seems to be difficult, owing to the fact that the displays of old age appear for each individual at a different moment. The issue of old age is being neglected by our society and moreover, it is being generalized as a passive period of a human being. However, with regard to the predictions of the population development in the Czech Republic I believe that it will become a current and crucial issue in the following years. Higher proportion of people aged over 60 will have an adverse impact on the economy of the state. The society will have to cope with increasing demands on the area of social and health care. This bachelor´s thesis, mainly its empirical part, shall point to the fact how today's society perceives this neglected chapter of human life, which old age undoubtedly is. For research purposes persons in the age group between 15 and 25 years were selected who represented the younger generation. The theoretical part focuses on the objectification of terms which are important for the understanding of the given issue. In these chapters findings of a lot of authors dealing not only with the topic of old age are presented. Here we find terms such as intergenerational solidarity, generation X, Y, Z, myths, prejudices and stereotypes about old age and values and attitudes of the society towards old age. Furthermore, issues such as ontological human development /youth old age/, demographic situation of the Czech Republic and the ageing process including period of old age are described here. The empirical part devotes to own research which aims to determine the relationship of the younger generation towards old age. In order to obtain proper data the strategy of quantitative research has been chosen which uses the technique of questionnaire as a form of data collection. The gained data have been processed to transparent graphs and the below mentioned hypotheses have been tested statistically. For the research part the following hypotheses have been determined: Hypothesis 1: The perception of old age by the younger generation depends on the gender. Hypothesis 2: The opinion of the younger generation towards old age is influenced by existing myths and prejudices in the society. On the basis of statistical testing both proposed hypotheses have been refuted. The view of the last developmental period of a human being does not record any vigorous changes in both male and female gender of the respondents. In addition to that, it has been discovered that the younger generation does not make any judgments about old age on the grounds either of existing myths and stereotypes or prejudices in the society. Individuals who belong to young generation form their opinion on old age with the aid of gained experience. The aim of the bachelor´s thesis is to explore the opinion of the younger generation on old age. Furthermore, it has been examined how the views differ based on the gender and whether the younger generation is being influenced by existing myths and prejudices to old age. The set goals of this bachelor´s thesis have been achieved. The results of this bachelor´s thesis can be beneficial to the organizations dealing with the youth both in terms of teaching of students and practice.
Demographic changes of the Czech Republic as a social risk
KACZOR, Michal
This bachelor's thesis deals with demographic changes of the Czech Republic in connection with social risks, which were caused by these demographic changes. The thesis contains definitions of basic demographic indicators, i.e. natality, abortion rate, marriage rate, divorce rate, mortality, and it describes their development. The main focus of this development is placed on the period after the Velvet Revolution (1989) when the totalitarian regime was overthrown and the Czech society substantially individualized. According to statistical data of Czech Statistical Office the thesis presents prognoses of the demographic development of the Czech Republic till 2100. These prognoses interpret probable trends of the future population development. Important social risks, which follow from the development of demographic indicators, are outlined as well. These selected risks are supplemented with the proposal of measures, which lead to influencing of demographic development of the Czech Republic.
Leisure Time Activities in the Master Křišťan of Prachatice Seniors´Home
BENEŠOVÁ, Ludmila
Baccalaureate work is focused on the offer of leisure time activities of senior citizens living in the Master Křišťan Seniors´ Home based in Prachatice. The theoretical section of my baccalaureate work is divided into three basic topics. The first section deals with old age and aging in general, the second is focused on senior citizens living in institutions and the third is concerned with the choice of leisure time activities available to the aged. The objective of my baccalaureate work it to map the range of leisure time activities offered to the inmates of the Master Křišťan Seniors´ Home based in Prachatice and to find out how the inmates of the said home for the aged are satisfied with their current choice of leisure time activities. In connection with the above mentioned objective a hypothesis has been set up, i. e. that the senior citizens living in the Master Křišťan of Prachatice Seniors´ Home are satisfied with the range of their current leisure time activities offered. Quantitative research, namely questionnaire and controlled interview with the inmates, has been applied to verify the hypothesis as above. An evaluation of the research results has proved the hypothesis. The research has shown that a majority of the respondents consider their leisure time activities offered by the Master Křišťan of Prachatice Seniors´ Home acceptable and satisfying and that the choice of leisure time activities is sufficient. Some inmates have stated that they miss gardening. Accordingly, I would recommend granting the senior inmates the chance to work in the garden in compliance with their individual health condition. Further, I would recommend training full-time members of the seniors´ home staff specialized in creating and implementing leisure time activities for the inmates.

The practical part of the thesis is mapping the motivation of senior volunteers towards active voluntary work in the districts of Vodňany and Drahonice. Secondly, the proportion of men to women among volunteers is being questioned as well as which particular activities are typical for senior volunteers. The acquired data originate directly from local non-profit organizations which provide voluntary service. As a research method, quantitative research was chosen {--} using the methods of questioning and standardized interviews with senior volunteers.
