Depressive rumination: testing the analytical rumination hypothesis in patients with depressive disorder
Janíčková, Petra ; Preiss, Marek (advisor) ; Dymešová, Gabriela (referee)
Depression is commonly viewed as a pathology. Depressive rumination, one of the key symptoms of depression is thought to be a maladaptive cognitive style that contributes to worse and longer depressive episodes. Here I present an alternative approach called the analytical rumination hypothesis (ARH). ARH proposes that depression is an evolved response to complex analytical problems. In a study on inmate patients of the National institute of mental health in Klecany with diagnosed depression we tested the validity of the ARH through assessing the influence of depressive rumination on mood, cognitive performance and electrophysiological correlates. Rumination was experimentally induced by expressive writing. In the control condition we used the distractive writing method. The results show a corresponding effect of rumination on the mood of our patients as expected. However, we were not able to see the proposed effects on cognitive abilities. Havlíčková, Adéla ; Květoňová, Lea (advisor) ; Šumníková, Pavlína (referee)
The bachelor thesis consists of a theoretical and a research part. It deals with the acceptance of visual impairment in the working age, specifically looking at acquired visual impairment. The theoretical part defines congenital and acquired visual impairment, then includes the most common causes of visual impairment, its consequences and the associated psychological changes, then describes the possibilities of successful acceptance in the form of a foreign study, and finally deals with the possibilities of social rehabilitation and its forms. The aim of the research is to describe how people reflect on their process of acceptance of sight loss and what areas have influenced this acceptance and what the differences are between male and female experiences in relation to their personality traits. Using qualitative research in the form of semi-structured interviews with three respondents, it became clear that the most significant change for respondents was a change in mindset and motivation to cope with the crisis situation. Furthermore, monitoring one's own progress towards self-sufficiency and the support of those around them proved to have a great influence on the acceptance process. Professional support and help also played a significant role. Furthermore, it was possible to observe differences in...
Stress management strategies of train drivers
Krbečková, Anna ; Málková, Gabriela (advisor) ; Richterová, Eva (referee)
This thesis is focused on stress management strategies of a professional group of train drivers. Stress is presented in this thesis as one of the possible factors, the failure to manage which can lead to the occurrence of an incident. The premise of this connection is based on the findings concerning the effect of stress on attention, vigilance or fatigue. However, as there is currently no similar research naming the stress management strategies used by drivers, the aim of this paper is to describe the strategies that lead to stress management. To achieve this goal, a standardized questionnaire was chosen to describe the strategies that are predefined by it. The results obtained from a research sample of train drivers (n=41) show that drivers use all the strategies listed in the research instrument at least to some extent. It also shows that respondents tend to use more positive strategies. The highest average saturation of each strategy was found for the tested domain , "Positive Strategy 3 - Control Strategy", which is characterized by constructive efforts to cope with stressful situations. On the contrary, the Resignation and Self- blame strategies, belonging to the overall negative strategy, showed the lowest level of saturation. Key words: Railway safety, train drivers, stress, stress...
