Factors affecting diversity of open forest vegetation
Kerberová, Eva ; Pánková, Hana (advisor) ; Křenová, Zdeňka (referee)
The bachelor thesis contains a literature review focused on the evaluation of factors influencing the diversity of open forest vegetation. The thesis first explains the concept of open forests and describes selected cases in our territory. It lists selected factors, such as abiotic conditions (influence of light availability and soil quality), biotic conditions (herbivores, mycorrhizal symbiosis) and suitable management methods (forest grazing, thinning, litter raking, girdling), and describes their importance for the species diversity of communities of open woods. Key words: open forests, diversity, management of open forests, factors affecting diversity, abiotic conditions, biotic conditions
Feral Pigeon (Columba livia f. domestica) Census in Selected Sites of Prague
Bukačová, Kateřina ; Řezníček, Jan (advisor) ; Štěpán, Jiří (referee)
This thesis deals with the monitoring of numerous rate of domestic pigeon (Columba livia f. Domestica, hereinafter referred to as pigeon) in a given area and its spatial activity. The work includes incidence monitoring of individual pigeons depending on daytime and weather. The monitoring was carried out by observational method in the period from February to May 2015. The observations were related to individuals who occurred the monitored area (the buildings in Dukelských hrdinů street). Furthermore, the work compares the results from population census of Prague pigeon and the results from census of other European cities. It was further investigated whether the amount of pigeons in the area is affected by abiotic conditions (air temperature and weather). The result of the thesis should contribute to better knowledge of overall pigeon rate determining in the capital city of Prague. The collected data may help to gain a deeper knowledge of the entire population ecology living in this territory. They can also be beneficial, for example, in reducing of the pigeon numbers or serve in other investigations. Key words: pigeon, Domestic Pigeons (Columba livia f. domestica), abundance, monitoring, abiotic conditions, population
The work firstly explains the concept of open forests and describes their vegetation. It also lists the different types of diversity. It focuses on factors affecting the diversity such as size of the area, abiotic conditions (e.g. local conditions, light availability, soil conditions), biotic conditions (mycorrhizal symbiosis, herbivory) and management. The thesis describes their importance for the species diversity of these communities. Key words: open forests, diversity, management of open forests, factors affecting diversity, abiotic conditions
Population dynamics of Minuartia smejkalii
Hrušková, Karolína ; Münzbergová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Dostál, Petr (referee)
Serpentine areas in the Czech Republic form minor but important islands in the landscape with specific chemical properties such as high content of magnesium and other heavy metals. Due to this, serpentine is toxic for most plants. Increased demands on the survival and occurrence of plants lead to the emergence of serpentine specialists obligatorily specialized in these extreme habitats. Currently, serpentine areas are threatened by gradual overgrowth of sites, insufficient or poor site management and fragmentation or shrinkage of sites due to anthropogenic activities. Along with the disappearing localities, the serpentine specialists, are becoming highly endangered. Minuartia smejkalii is highly endangered serpentine specialist with an endemic occurrence in the Czech Republic with great need of its conservation. The aim of the work was to collect data on population dynamics of the species and identify habitat and climatic factors affecting population growth. We studied dynamics in all existing 7 populations during the period from 2006 to 2020 were collected. We linked these data to information on population dynamics, habitat and climatic factors and analysed them using Integral projection models (IPM). The study presents the importance of individual habitat and climatic conditions on the dynamics...
