HEALTH AND SOCIAL IMPACT OF HUMAN AND DOG CO-EXISTENCE
KARAFIÁTOVÁ, Iva
ABSTRACT The thesis called Health and Social Impacts of Human and Dog Co-existence is a paper describing the development of a human and a dog relationship since old times until present. It deals with the origin of a dog and describes the development of understanding between a human and a dog, which lasts up to the present day. The paper offers an integrated survey on the ways the dogs are used at present, especially in health and social areas. It informs the readers on the dog use possibilities, the care for dogs, and also the principles of communication, which enable quality and peaceful life of a human and a dog. The first objective was to find out what is the respondents´ knowledge on the dog use possibilities in the society. This objective was fulfilled and the hypothesis was proved. Respondents do not know even a half of possible dog use in co-existence with people. The second objective was to find out how respondents perceive the presence of dogs in their surroundings in relation to children. The objective was also fulfilled, however, the hypothesis that more than 75 per cent of respondents are careful during the contact of a child with a dog, was disproved. Quite a high percentage of people nderestimate the possible risk during the contact of a child with a dog. The third objective was focused on the awareness of respondents of the dog body signals. The hypothesis was proved in this case and out of the results it is evident that the people lack information on the signals sent by dogs. For finding out the needed data the questionnaire research was used. The questionnaire was composed of 24 questions and handed out to 350 respondents. The result of the research was the proving of three above mentioned hypotheses. One of them was disproved, the rest was proved. The awareness of respondents is not high. 44 per cent of owners are threatened by the risk of wound caused by their own dog. Everything is the result of insufficient education in the area. I see preventive programmes focused on the principles of proper co-existence of a human and a dog, which start in kindergarten, as a possibility to lower the risk of wounds or bites caused by dogs.

CIMLOVÁ, Ludmila
The subject of my bachelor thesis was "The Development of Professional Competences of Students by Means of Canistherapy. In the theoretical part I focused on the explanation of terms such as zootherapy, canistherapy, voluntary service, professional competence and other related information. In the practical part of my thesis I describe the objectives, study methods and results. The aim was to find the extent of the students' professional competence which was developed through the involvement in the volunteer programme at the Centre of Zootherapy, or by participation in some stays organized by the Centre of Zootherapy. In the research, I selected quqlitative searching, focus group technique, the method of secondary data analysis and, as a complementary source of data, I used photo documentation. The results of the search showed that the students gained 16 professional competences due to involvement in the volunteer programme Canistherapy, or due to the participation in off-site events which they are supposed to obtain during the study and practical training at the Faculty of Health and Social Studies.

Supportive therapy with dog´s assistance as a part of the coherent physiotherapy for the physically disabled person
BAUEROVÁ, Monika
ABSTRACT The use of animals as man{\crq}s helpers or companions is as old as domestication itself. Contact with an animal, if accepted positively by the person, relaxes, slows down heartbeat and lowers blood pressure, releases tension, intermediates communication, compensates for missing abilities of people. Canistherapy as a supporting rehabilitation method contributes to the relaxation of muscle spasms, development of fine and gross motor skills, stimulates verbal and non-verbal communication, orientation in space, enhances motivation to participate in one{\crq}s own healing process, and improves the client{\crq}s interaction with other clients and nurses. The theoretical part of the Bachelor thesis is dedicated to the definition of canistherapy within comprehensive rehabilitation of people with a motor apparatus disability. Particular attention is paid to the issue of individuals affected by cerebral palsy and achondroplasia. The goal of the Bachelor thesis is to determine the influence of a dog-assisted therapy on people with a motor apparatus disability. A partial goal is to define the standing and position of a dog-assisted therapy within integral comprehensive rehabilitation of the client. The research is mainly focused on the use of the Animal Assisted Therapy method. Qualitative techniques of data collection were used within the research part of the Bachelor thesis. The following data collection techniques were used: anamnesis, observation (kinesiology examination), secondary data analysis and photo documentation. Results of the action of AAT method canistherapy prove in different areas a positive influence on both monitored clients permanently living in a diagnostic social care institution. The research was carried out in a client suffering from a quadriplegia form of cerebral palsy and in a client with achondroplasia. Casuistries of both mentioned clients describe the way of dog assisted therapy conduct, progress and results.

Farmingtherapy and Its Influence on the Client
VALENTOVÁ, Pavla
The author deals with farmingtherapy as is a special form of zootherapy which is conducted through work with farm animals. It includes not only work in direct contact with the animals but also the whole process of caretaking and breeding {--} and usually not only of one kind or breed. The work consists of a theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part, the author focuses on a relatively detailed analysis of the given type of zootherapy. One of the chapters deals with ways of practical use of this approach. The author also mentions foreign organizations focusing on farmingtherapy. Further, she includes a historical overview of this method. The aim of the practical part of the bachelor thesis was to contact a maximum number of organizations in the Czech Republic that focus on or offer farmingtherapy, and through email questionnaires asses the extent of use of this method in our country. Organizations using some kinds of farmingtherapy in their work were sent a questionnaire which was to ascertain the extent, method and level of the realization of this method. The obtained results revealed that farmingtherapy has a positive influence on the clients and that both clients and organizers were satisfied with its effects. In the Czech Republic, farmingtherapy is still a relatively new and unknown field. Therefore, it came as no surprise that the questionnaires showed large gaps in general awareness regarding this method, possibilities of further education of therapists specializing in this field as well as methods and techniques of zootherapy in general. These are only some of the reasons why the author supposes that her bachelor thesis could serve as a comprehensive source of information for practicing zootherapists as well as for the general public and become a source of inspiration for therapists working with their clients.

Educational institutions personnel have little knowledge of zootherapy. Legislature is executed mainly by a contract between the facility and the providing organization. The research outcomes suggest the following hypotheses: H 1: ``The only zootherapy provider in educational institutions within the České Budějovice region are the o.s. Hafík, o.s. Koníček and o.s. Arpida.`` H 2: ``Educational institutions in the České Budějovice region do not have conditions for the resident form of zootherapy.{\crqq} The thesis may serve as a resource for professionals, zootherapists, but also for the general public. The author also devotes to a composition and training of a canine therapy team and to its preparation for passing of the canine therapy tests. Currently, there is missing a database of people who are engaged in the canine therapy in practice. An aim of the practical part of the diploma thesis is to design such a database structure that would allow an easier contact among these people and therefore an easier access to getting relevant information and experience. The database should contain information for people who are supposed to be interested in services of canine therapy teams. The author published a call in magazines Dog ? Man´s Friend and Dog´s World on websites. The call addressed people practising the canine therapy and it invited them to participate in the research. A technique of e-mail survey (CAMI) was used to collect the data. Further a questionnaire with open questions was used. The other used technique was a content analysis of documents. The database of people practising canine therapy in the Czech Republic has been created. At the same time the collected information has provided a basis to compare competences of these people. The database could be used in order to improve a communication, an exchange experience and a complex development of the field.
