The Representation of Šumava in the works of Karel Klostermann

This work deals with the fate of selected places or villages in which the stories of Karel Klostermanns literary works take place. Klostermann was an important writer of the 19th century, who dealt with the lives and the residents of Šumava in his literary works. The plot of his novels and short stories take place in different localities of Šumava. Šumava is a place that was populated predominantly with a German-speaking population in this time. In 1945 this population was forced to leave the region. The goal of my work is to show the reality of the former time in the literary work of Karel Klostermann. The focus is on selected locations and their fate up to the present. As a basis for this analysis are two selected novels from Karel Klostermann: V ráji šumavském, Ze světa lesních samot.
