Environmental and health risks of war conflicts
Niesner, Kryštof Bruno ; Blaha,, Martin (referee) ; Adamec, Vladimír (advisor)
In addition to the loss of life and property, wars pose significant environmental and health risks that often persist long after the conflict has ended. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part is devoted to the theoretical framework of knowledge on the environmental and health impacts of military activities. Building on the theoretical overview, the second part focuses on the application of a set of pollution indices to assess soil contamination by heavy metals that have been dispersed as a result of artillery activities. This is a thesis providing an introductory insight into the subject with the aim of extending future research in the areas of ecotoxicology, organic pollutants, modelling contaminant movement in the environment, contamination mapping and air quality.
