The bachelor thesis "The road to the inception of the party DIE LINKE - the development between the years 2004 and 2009" deals with the inception of the German political party DIE LINKE, which was formed from the Party of the Democratic Socialism (PDS) and The Electoral Alternative - Labor & Social Justice (WASG). The thesis is anchored between the years 2004 and 2009. In some cases it goes back to the time between 1990 and 2004. In the beginning of the thesis both founding parties are introduced along with their development up to the year 2004. It continues to show, what made the fusion possible and how the parties started to move closer to one another. The thesis also deals with the programmatic differences between the PDS and the WASG. The focal point of is an analysis of the electoral results of the parties, which is aimed to prove whether or not the fusion brought more voters to the PDS and the WASG. The results of the elections to the Federal and Land Diets between the years 1990 and 2009 have been analysed based on secondary literature and statistics. Lastly, the thesis also aims to show how was the inception of DIE LINKE reflected in some of the daily newspapers of the Czech Republic (Mladá fronta DNES, Hospodářské noviny, Lidové noviny, Právo and Haló noviny) not only as far as frequency but also...
