Mario Vargas Llosa: The feast of the goat - fiction vs. historical facts

(in English): The Bachelor's Thesis examines Mario Vargas Llosa's novel, The Feast of The Goat. It analyzes the novel from a historical point of view. First part pays attention to the history of Dominican Republic, it focuses on the period of dictatorship of Rafael Trujillo, especially on its last years. It examines his politics, cult of his personality and mark that he left in dominican history. The second part compares historical reality with literary presentation by Mario Vargas Llosa. It examines how much the author remains trutful to the historical facts and shows, where he helps himself out with fiction. Further on it analyzes particular characters and clarifies why are they significant to characterize Trujillo and his regime. The final chapter upholds the novel as a historical source, although is is a historical novel.
