Tenement house

This thesis describes the design of tenement house in Krasna Ves. It is a detached building on a flat terrain. The building block of flats has two above and consists of a total of 6 residential units. The flat on first floor is designed as a barrier-free. On first floor are situated three flats and on second floor are 3 floors. The building is designed of structural systém of ceramic blocks. The ceilings are from prefabricated ceramic system and the roof is designed as a mono-pitched with roof truss. The work includes project documentation for the construction.
Courtyards of Prague tenement houses and their revitalization in the view of their residents

The work aims to get a deeper grasp of the issue of tenement houses courtyards and understand their function as a specific type of space within city. This goal is to be reached with emphasis on users of this space in terms of how they use and perceive it. In the first part of the work, the reader can familiarize themselves with difficulties of urban space in the context of urbanism and sociology, history of courtyards of tenement houses in Prague and also their revitalization. The second part of the work consists of a case study of one particular already revitalized courtyard in which a series of non-participant observations and qualitative interviews was performed with 13 of its users. The concluding part summarizes the results of the qualitative research and it is shown, in connection with the first part, that tenement houses courtyards may represent a space supporting life quality in urban areas. Architect Eugene Rosenberg - Works in Czechoslovakia

This graduate thesis deals with work of architect Eugene Rosenberg. Rosenberg, a Jewish architect of Slovak origin, made his career in inter-war Prague. He is connected mainly with luxurious apartment blocks in Letná but range of his work is richer. Through the apprenticeship at Le Corbusier's and Czech architects'ateliers of the first rank, Rosenberg got in touch with the art of architecture of the highest quality, which together with schooling under Josef Gočár left a deep trace in his own work. Rosenberg, despite his origin and character of his commissions, bacame an integral part of Czechoslovak avantgarde. The threat of Nazi invasion made him leave Czechoslovakia for United Kingdom, where he succesfully worked until his death.
