The life and work of Gabriel Schneider (1812 - 1867)

This thesis is about the life and work of Gabriel Schneider, a native clergyman of South Bohemia, who was a founder of the Congregation of Poor School Sisters of Notre Dame in Bohemia. The first part of the thesis is focused on the historical context of the time, in which Gabriel Schneider lived. The second part of the thesis introduces the founder of the Congregation and the history of the Congregation. The third (and last) part of the thesis describes the life of Gabriel Schneider and also foundation of the Congregation in Bohemia. The aim of this thesis is to give a complete picture of the life of Gabriel Schneider, who contributed to developing education of women in Bohemia.
